Marvel Reveals Details About X-Men Black
Marvel has just released details on their upcoming X-Men Black series. The series will be a number of one-shots featuring a number of Marvel’s top X-Men villains including Magneto, Mojo, Mystique, Juggernaut, and Emma Frost.
Each of these characters will be featured in their own one-shot with an Apocalypse back-up story connecting each of the books.
The one-shots will feature one of Marvel’s top talents in Chris Claremont. He will partner with Dalibor Talajic for the Magneto one-shot.
Other creative teams include Leah Williams and Chris Bachalo on Emma Frost. Scott Auckerman and Nick Bradshaw will work on Mojo, Seanan McGuire and Marco Failla will collaborate on Mystique, and finally Robbie Thompson will work with Shawn Crystal on Juggernaut.
The Apocalypse back-up stories will be written by Lonnie Nadler with art by Zac Thompson. Each issue will feature cover art by J. Scott Campbell.
Marvel unveiled the Magneto cover last week.
Each one shot is scheduled to be released in October.
My Take
I’m actually interested in these one-shots especially with Claremont on the Magneto one-shot. I’m interested to see what he has to say about the character all of these years later.
However, I’m also very nervous about the tie-in back story about Apocalypse. That makes me think these one-shots aren’t really one-shots, but prequel books for a potential Apocalypse story-line in the future with these characters actually forming an X-Men Black team.
I might just pick these up for the J. Scott Campbell covers.
Are you interested in any of these one-shots? Do they get you interested in what Marvel has planned for the X-Men?
