Scott Snyder Confirms Grant Morrison to Write DC Metal Book
Scott Snyder took to Instagram to announce Grant Morrison will be returning to DC Comics to co-write an upcoming DC Metal book.
Morrison’s last work with DC was the graphic novel Wonder Woman: Earth One. Before that he worked on the Multiversity miniseries which fleshed out the 52 Earths that are part of the DC Multiverse.
Snyder provided details on the specifics of the project:
So HUGE #DCMetal news – the one and only Grant Morrison will be co-writing our special February issue METAL: DARK KNIGHTS, THE WILD HUNT!!! I couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to work with Grant on this. Metal is about celebrating classic as a way of blasting off into the new.And no one in comics does that better than Grant. The creativity, intelligence, passion, and above all the daring he brings to his work have made his writing a huge inspiration to me for as long as I can remember. I’m proud to call him a mentor, friend and now a collaborator. Grant, you rawk.
What’s most intriguing about this post is the title of the project. Metal: Dark Knights, The Wild Hunt. DC just released their January solicitations and we got our first hint at the Dark Knights.
Snyder will be teaming with James Tynion IV and Joshua Williamson for Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt #1.
Here’s the full solicitation:
Continued from the pages of the bestselling DARK NIGHTS: METAL! The Dark Knights ride through the farthest reaches of the Multiverse to track down the unlikeliest of teams: The Flash, Cyborg, Raven and Detective Chimp. The mission: keep these heroes from completing their desperate quest to save all of existence! Plus, Challengers’ Mountain crackles with dark energy that will release an army of the world’s worst nightmares into the streets of Gotham City!
This one-shot also answers the question: Where are the Metal Men? And who is the latest addition to the team?
One would assume the upcoming February issue with Grant Morrison will continue this storyline. With Morrison’s addition and his expertise with Multiversity there could be a lot happening in this book. We might see a number of folks from the Multiversity miniseries show up to help out Flash, Cyborg, Raven and Detective Chimp. Or it could be the other way around and Morrison’s Multiversity creations might have their own Dark Multiverse counterparts and could be part of the army of the world’s worst nightmares.
Either way this issue looks like it is going to be especially exciting. I can not wait!
