Stan Lee Bows Out Of Big Apple Comic Con – Health Reasons!
Stan Lee bowed out of the Big Apple Comic-Con in New York City this weekend due to undefined “health issues.”
The 94-year-old Lee was supposed to provide his expertise to a number of Question & Answer panels as well as sign autographs aplenty.
However, a statement provided to Cosmic Book News reads, “Big Apple Comic Con has just been informed that due to health issues Stan Lee will no longer be appearing at the convention on either Saturday, March 11th or Sunday, March 12th.”
The statement continues, “Stan keeps to an amazing schedule and it seems to have taken its toll. We are terribly sorry for any inconvenience but the show must go on. We are going to have a tremendous weekend loaded with great guests, exhibitors and events. Let’s all wish Stan well and party like you know he wants us to!”
Stan Lee was replaced by another Lee (no relation), DC Comics co-publisher and artist Jim Lee. He stepped in to take Stan’s place.
Stan Lee was the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. He worked with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to create Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, the X-Men, and many more!
Big Apple Comic COn is taking place this weekend at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in the Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan, New York across from Madison Square Garden.
