DC Comics and Scott Lobdell Give Nightwing a Brand New Name
**Warning Spoilers for Nightwing #51 Below**
DC Comics, writer Scott Lobdell, and artists Travis Moore and Garry Brown have given Dick Grayson aka Nightwing a brand new name in the pages of [easyazon_link identifier=”B07GVRTGH8″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Nightwing #51[/easyazon_link].
Dick Grayson is changing his name to Ric Grayson.
If you haven’t been keeping up with Nightwing and Batman, Dick Grayson was recently shot in the head by KGBeast on the roof of the Gotham City Police Department. While it appears Grayon’s body has recovered, his mind is still broken. He has waking nightmares that he can’t remember. He also has a brand new profession. He drives a taxi cab now, and also attends a local watering hole called the Prodigal Bar, where apparently he’s been drowning himself at the bottom of a glass.
Grayson’s memory is also missing, but it’s not all of his memory. He still has excellent recall of certain things specifically his parents, but it’s the last fifteen years or so that he can’t remember.
His physical instincts are still in tact as well. It seems like he just has a case of Jason Bourne.

Here’s the official solicitation:
“After the cataclysmic events of BATMAN #55, our hero doesn’t remember training to fight, being a member of the Bat family, or being a superhero…and he could not be more content. It’s his life, and he’s happy to just live it with new friends and a roof over his head (wherever that roof might be). So when Blüdhaven finds itself without a protector and a new group of vigilantes pick up the slack, Grayson is more than happy to yield any perceived responsibility to the people of the city. But as things start to spiral out of control, muscle memory kicks in…and he is startled to discover that he’s more than just a pretty face.”
What do you make of Dick Grayson’s name change? Do you think it will stick? How long before you think he’s back to being Dick Grayson?
