DC Comics Announces The Infected One Shots Featuring Shazam, Blue Beetle, Hawkman, and Supergirl
DC Comics announced a number of one-shot tie-in comics to their ongoing event Year of the Villain that specifically ties into the events unfolding in Batman/Superman. There will be six one-shots that will feature Shazam!, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Hawkman, and more.
These six one-shots will tie-in to the upcoming storyline in Batman/Superman that launches its first issue on August 28th. The storyline will see Batman and Superman discover that six of DC Comics’ heroes have been infected by the villainous Batman Who Laughs, but they don’t know which heroes are sleeper agents for the supervillain. Batman and Superman might not even be able to trust each other as they try and figure out who is part of The Infected.
First, DC Comics announced that writer Sina Grace and artist Joe Bennett will team for The Infected: King Shazam! #1. The issue will hit comic book stores on November 6th. DC Comics provided just a brief blurb about what the story will entail.
Straight from the press release they tell us:
“One is a story of a hero whose soul has been turned black and who has something to prove to the old guard.”
We did get a cover image by David Marquez and Dean White.
The Infected: King Shazam! will be followed up by The Infected: Scarab #1 from writer Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum and artist Freddie E. Williams II. This issue will hit comic book shelves on November 20th.
Here’s what DC Comics told us about that issue.
“The other a tale of a hero fighting the evil inside him, with his friends and family about to pay the price…and then some.”
And here’s the cover image by David Marquez and Dean White.
There will also be a Hawkman The Infected tie-in in Hawkman #18 from Robert Venditti with art by Pat Olliffe and Tom Palmer that will debut on November 13th. You can take a look at the cover by Tyler Kirkham.
There will also be a tie-in with Supergirl in Supergirl #36 from writer Marc Andreyko and artists Eduardo Pansica and Julio Ferreira. The cover art for that issue is by Dan Mora.
DC Comics did not provide us any information on the other two one-shots or tie-in comics. However, they tell us that the full team of The Infected will be revealed in Batman/Superman #4 from writer Joshua Williamson and David Marquez with a cover by Emanuela Lupacchino. That book is expected to hit shelves on November 27th.
More details about DC Comics Batman/Superman storyline and The Infected are promised to be released this Friday when DC Comics rolls out their November solicitations.
