Fans React to DC Comics and Tom King’s Heroes in Crisis #1
DC Comics, Tom King, and Clay Mann’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B07FM7PFFW” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Heroes in Crisis #1[/easyazon_link] officially released on this New Comic Book Day, and fans have some strong opinions about the new book.
DC Comics’ official solicitation for the book reveals the focus of the series will be on how superheroes handle PTSD.
“There’s a new kind of crisis threatening the heroes of the DC Universe, ripped from real-world headlines by C.I.A.-operative-turned-comics-writer Tom King: How does a superhero handle PTSD? Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra-secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been traumatized by crime-fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well-known operators as the prime suspects: Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to investigate-but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition?”
Well, fans have finally been able to read the highly marketed series from DC Comics and they don’t appear to be too happy about what they’ve read.
Okay.
Heroes in Crisis.
I know the spoilers.
No, I won’t post/share them.
What I will say is:
R.I.P. Rebirth and the last bit of goodwill it had with fans.
I know that sounds dramatic and even hyperbolic, but it’s honestly going to be that upsetting for many, if not most.

Heroes in Crisis is a beautiful mess. The art is gorgeous, but it doesn’t get me excited for the story, gives hardly any background about Sanctuary, and the deaths are casually thrown out with no meaning. The only reason I’d keep reading is to see this 1st issue undone

*reads spoilers for DC’s latest event, Heroes in Crisis*
Hey, remember when they promised Rebirth would bring more optimism back to the DC Universe?
Good times.

Think I’m done supporting King. Batman 50, 55 and now Heroes in Crisis. This ain’t what Rebirth is supposed to be about.

Heroes in Crisis #1 is a disgusting slap in the face to the years of hard work DC Rebirth spent crafting an ethos of legacy, embracing the past and entering the future with hope.
Everyone is furious, and they have every right to be. Simply disappointing to say the least. pic.twitter.com/g9msXwI8y7

LRT: HEROES IN CRISIS is all shocks, no genuine stakes. I have no idea why I should care about any of this.

i’m so dissappimted bc heroes in crisis was originally supposed to be a comic about heroes dealing with their mental health & trauma but instead didio is just killing characters and giving them MORE trauma :’-/

I have not heard one thing about Heroes in Crisis that makes me want to pick it up.

I won’t be supporting Heroes in Crisis, just not a book I think deserves my money. I’ve seen the spoilers, and all I can say is Death is not always permanent. pic.twitter.com/5Pjg0xuY9Q

Read Heroes in Crisis so you don’t have to. I do not recommend. At all.

A number of people showed their dissatisfaction with the first issue, but did caution to wait and see how the rest of the series will play out. O
DC Comics doesn’t need to reboot. Are we really going to start the boycott DC because of Heroes in Crisis?
Let the story play out…..

To everyone mad about Heroes in Crisis
Yes, it looks rough. But remember the protagonist of the book is Booster Gold, a guy with time travel powers
I’m not saying it will all get undone, but before you say “That’s it I’m done with DC” remember they have a giant undo button there— Professor Thorgi (@ProfessorThorgi) September 26, 2018
I’m disappointed by Heroes In Crisis too but I don’t think this is permanent at all. It seems like a shock value thing that will be reversed by the end of the story.
Not a good first issue but just wait, old chums.

There were a few people who did enjoy the story.
Just in regards to heroes in crisis. I’m actually like the book. (i dont much care about the deaths though. No one i loved got the axe in any way that genuinely feels real)
But for those who are upset about it: Please stop overreacting. This does not mean the end of rebirth
— TalkingSwampThing (@SwampTalking) September 26, 2018
I think Heroes in Crisis is just okay right now, but the bigger problem is that you can’t really do sad superhero deaths anymore when people die every 4 months

Please make sure to buy Heroes in Crisis by @TomKingTK and @Clay_Mann_ this Wednesday.
This story is intense, emotional, and looks absolutely gorgeous. #HeroesinCrisis #DCComics pic.twitter.com/aNSNc8H4e4

It definitely looks like Tom King might be quickly falling out of favor with DC Comics readers. Not only were tons of fans upset with his decisions in [easyazon_link identifier=”B07F2PVPBZ” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman #50[/easyazon_link], but now Heroes in Crisis have a number of fans declaring they are no longer interested in DC’s entire line. And while I’m sure Heroes in Crisis will do big numbers for the first issue, King’s decisions on Batman #50 have seen the Batman book fall below 100,000 in sales starting with Batman #53. The last time Batman was below 100,000 was back in April where [easyazon_link identifier=”B07B6DNVPC” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman #45[/easyazon_link]only shipped 96,448 copies.
