7 New Aquaman Character Posters Drop – Take a Look!

With Aquaman coming out next month, some serious promotion is kicking in for the Atlantean hero’s first ever standalone film. Warner Bros. released seven posters featuring detailed, up-close looks at seven of the ensemble cast members in full costume in their respective part. Jason Momoa is in on the action as Arthur Curry himself, in his original costume.

Also part of the layout is Amber Heard as Mera, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna (mother of Arthur Curry), Yahya Abdul-Mateen going full Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as main villain (an apparently battle-ready) King Orm (aka Oceanmaster), Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and a pensive Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus) suited up and riding what looks like a dragon.

Much like variant covers, each poster offers a different perspective or aspect of what we can expect from Aquaman’s story.

Momoa showing up in the signature Aquaman costume that’s been standard since The Golden Age is interesting and raises a few questions. It could be we see more of it in the film than anyone thinks or it could be a sign the studio is firm in moving on from Zack Snyder’s vision. At last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, an alternate armor was put on display, an exhibition that could mean more than we knew at the time.

When Momoa was cast as Aquaman and the first images of him in character were released, showing a tattooed, dark-haired version of Arthur that resembled his look in the 90s (sans hook), it was a departure. However, it’s one they stuck with in Justice League last year.

But, Warner is shifting their focus and possibly is in the mood to reboot the entire Cinematic Universe again, starting with Wonder Woman 1984, though nothing is preventing them from beginning a reboot with Aquaman.

Post-production wrapped this past weekend and there were reshoots earlier this year that sparked rumors. James Wan assured everyone they were nothing to worry over, but a secret could still be hiding up their sleeve, one that isn’t revealed until opening day. Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.
