Another Rumor Claims Doctor Doom To Arrive In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Provides Details On His Role

A new rumor indicates that Marvel fans may be seeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut of Doctor Doom sooner than expected.

This new rumor, reported by Bleeding Cool, claims that Doom will show up in the upcoming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film.

Not only is Doctor Doom rumored to appear in the sequel to 2018’s massively successful “Black Panther,” but it also claimed to feature a war between Wakanda and Atlantis.

Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool claims Doom’s “presence may be very minor, only really there to imply that the war between Wakanda and Atlantis was down to Doom’s interference.”

Johnston adds, “Whether or not Doom appears, the movie production studios have been working on a costume, and they’d hate to waste it. Maybe just a gauntlet?”

Doctor Doom, the famed arch-enemy of the Fantastic Four, has long stood out as one of the Marvel universe’s premier villains.

Should he be introduced into the MCU, it is likely Doom would have a similar level of influence to villains such as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Josh Brolin’s Thanos.

This latest rumor from Bleeding Cool is not the first time Doctor Doom has been mentioned in conjunction with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

According to Fandomwire’s Andy Signore, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige “wants to mix things up for Doctor Doom’s MCU debut” by establishing the villain “as his own character outside of the Fantastic Four franchise to start.”

Signore also claimed that Doom would appear “in full Doctor Doom armor,” as well as his alter ego, Victor von Doom. He also previously noted that Doom “will be appearing in a smaller role as the overall bad guy pulling the strings in Black Panther 2.”

They further noted that he would have a run in with the Fantastic Four following his debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

“Our sources did confirm that Victor von Doom will eventually meet up with Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm at some point in the future but not anytime soon,” Fandomwire reported.

Charles Murphy at Murphy’s Multiverse claimed all the way back in November 2019 that Doom would also be in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The scooper noted that “Victor Von Doom will began expanding his empire, conquering parts of Africa and, ultimately, come into conflict with the nation of Wakanda and the Black Panther.”

In fact, he claimed back then that “Doctor Doom will be the villain of Black Panther II when it hits theaters.” Given the more recent rumors from Johnston and Signore, it’s possible Marvel changed direction and instead put the focus on Namor.

Previous rumors indicate, as mentioned above, that the film will feature a war between Wakanda and Atlantis.

Every Marvel fan knows that the MCU couldn’t possibly introduce Atlantis without also introducing the Atlantean king, Namor the Submariner.

Not only did Rich Johnston claim Doom will have a minor role, but he detailed the “Black Panther” sequel will not only feature Namor, but also Namor’s cousin, Namora, and the Atlantean warlord Attuma.

In fact, Johnston notes that “Marvel Studios consider Namor’s appearance in Black Panther 2 to be akin to Black Panther’s presence in Civil War to set up an upcoming franchise.”

Additional reports have also seemingly confirmed these rumors. A June 7, 2021 report from The Illuminerdi claimed that Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta had been cast in the role of Namor.

Additionally, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” had reportedly put out a casting call for “one Mayan woman” and “one Mayan man” to be played by actors of North or South American indigenous backgrounds.

The outlet claims these two “Mayan” roles were actually for the characters of Namora and Attuma.

If these rumors turn out to be false and Doom is not introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” the next most likely film to feature the villain is the MCU’s “Fantastic Four,” which will be directed by Jon Watts.

Watts previously directed the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy. An official release date for “Fantastic Four” has yet to be announced.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is set to debut worldwide on November 11, 2022.
