Star Wars Star Andy Serkis has a Replacement in Mind for Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man!
Robert Downey Jr. is probably the biggest actor on the planet. He’s the man Marvel Studios used to launch the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man back in 2008. In fact, Robert Downey Jr.’s star is so big he not only had his own Iron Man trilogy, but he also crashed Spider-Man’s latest reboot in Spider-Man: Homecoming and he put Captain America on notice in Captain America: Civil War.
However, Star Wars star Andy Serkis who played Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, not to mention he plays Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the upcoming Black Panther film has someone in mind to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
Serkis spoke to Screen Rant when they visited the set of Black Panther. He told them, “I’ve always to play Iron Man actually. I think Iron Man’s a great character. I’d like to play Iron Man next time, when they make him again.”
Not only did Serkis tell Screen Rant he wants to be the next Iron Man, he revealed a little bit more about what we can expect to see of Ulysses Klaue aka Klaw in Black Panther.
“In terms of the weapon he might, or might not have…he is actually quite a brilliant assembler of weaponry and technology and putting those together. I kind of looked a lot into that, to be very superficial about it.”
If you know anything about Ulysses Klaue from the comics you know his primary weapon is a sonic blaster. In the 2008 Black Panther comics by Reggie Hudlin, the original design of Klaw’s weapon allows him to turn sound into solid objects. However, it needed vibranium to work. In an attempt to secure the vibranium for his invention he uses brute force even killing the Black Panther. But he would eventually be foiled by the Black Panther’s son T’Challa who blasts Klaw’s hand off.
After being experimented on for almost a decade, Klaw returns to Wakanda with a sonic blaster attached to his hand in order to secure Vibranium. His weapon has allowed him to turn himself into a being of solidified sound. He’s even used his sound converting technology to summon solid creatures that held the Fantastic Four and Black Panther at bay!
Needless to say Klaw is a fearsome opponent for the Black Panther. And I wouldn’t expect him to fall by the wayside so easily in the upcoming Black Panther film.
You can next see Andy Serkis as the villain Klaw in Black Panther on February 16, 2018.
