C-3PO Actor Anthony Daniels: “I’m Front and Center in This One”
C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels spoke to the press while at Disney’s D23 Expo to detail his character is “front and center” in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Daniels spoke to the AP via ET Canada telling them:
“I’m front and center in this one for a lot of it. That made me feel very happy and very excited. Because the stuff we do is magic. The inventiveness superb. And so for me and for 3PO this is a very good bye-bye moment. Enjoy.”
He would also discuss C-3PO’s red eyes in the trailer with The Star Wars Show. (Related: Rumor: First Scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Revealed)
“That was so weird because they had rigged me up with a special thing. And to look at myself in a mirror it was scary. It’s a magnificent piece of storytelling that really took me by surprise.”
It’s unclear what Daniels is referring to given the film is not out in theaters yet, and we’ve only really gotten one full trailer, but alleged leaks could hint at just how front and center Daniels’ C-3PO is.
C-3PO Star Wars Leaks
According to heavily detailed alleged Star Wars leaks from Reddit user JediPaxis, C-3PO is instrumental in helping the Resistance decipher an ancient Sith artifact.
While the Resistance are sent out to hunt down an artifact called the Wayfinder, they run across another artifact, a Sith dagger. The dagger has Sith writing on it and the hope is that C-3PO can translate it. However, it’s one of the few languages he doesn’t know. In order to allow C-3PO to translate this dagger, Poe Dameron takes the team to the winter planet of Kijimi, where he is modified to be able to translate the language.
C-3PO is then able to translate the inscription which reveals there is a second Wayfinder belonging to Emperor Palpatine located on the forest moon of Endor.
While C-3PO is undergoing this update or hack, his eyes turn red as seen in the most recent teaser trailer showcased at D23.
It’s quite possible Daniels’ statement about C-3PO being front and center for much of the film is confirmation of this alleged leak. C-3PO is not only front and center, but he is essential to discovering this second Wayfinder and translating the Sith language found on the dagger.
