Stephen Daldry is known for critically acclaimed films such as Billy Elliot, The Reader, and The Hours. Before his directorial debut, Daldry got his start in theater before branching out to cinematic films.
As for a screenplay, actors, and producers, everything is still up in the air. But it’s suspected that Daldry would also develop and write the film. Obviously, Lucasfilm would be also be heavily involved in the process.
For Star Wars fans, the idea of an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie has been a dream for years. Since Disney’s acquisition the possibility of it happening grew exponentially. A movie based on Obi-Wan’s story line is one that many felt the logical way to go. Even former Obi-Wan, Ewan McGregor, has stated in the past he would be happy to reprise his role as the iconic Jedi. So far there has been no official confirmation stating that he might indeed return to the title character.
With the current success of the new trilogy, and Rouge One. It’s becoming more and more likely that Disney will seek to branch out in the rich lore of the franchise to keep movies coming out.
Do you want to see Ewan McGregor return as Obi Wan? Where in the story line would you like to see the story take place? During the Clone Wars maybe or possibly after Revenge of the Sith?
