Spock is one of the original Star Trek characters. He first appeared in the original Star Trek series as a science officer and first officer. He would eventually become a commanding officer of the starship Enterprise. Spock would eventually retire from Starfleet active duty and would become a Federation ambassador.
The character has been played by a number of different actors. However, Leonard Nimoy’s original portrayal is still the most iconic. Nimoy played Spock in the original Star Trek series, he voiced the character in the animated series, and has played the character in eight Star Trek films as well as a two-part episode in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Nimoy discussed the phenomenon of what The Boston Globe called Spockmania. He told the Williamson Daily News in 1982:
“The “Star Trek” phenomenon continues to amaze and confound me. It was incredible, and it still is, although it is gentler now than it used to be. For a time, it was hysterical â it was so wild I had to be very careful where I went. If I went to a restaurant, I had to plan my entrances and my exits so I wouldn’t be mobbed and hurt. Same thing in hotels and airports â any public place. It isn’t that hysterical any more, but it is still a potent force.”
Zachary Quinto portrayed Spock in the most recent Star Trek films in Star Trek Beyond, Star Trek Into Darkness, and the 2009 film simply titled Star Trek. Nimoy also starred as a time-displaced Spock in the 2009 film and had a small role in Star Trek: Into Darkness.
Ethan Peck played the role of Spock on CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery.
