Deadpool 2 Star Brianna Hildebrand Addresses Reports That Deadpool 2 Sucks

Negasonic Teenage Warhead

Over the last few months, the anticipation for Deadpool 2 has been growing. In February we saw that Deadpool 2 was in the middle of some reshoots. Nothing felt out of the ordinary until it was reported the test screening wasn’t so good.

Well, Deadpool 2 star Brianna Hildebrand, who plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead, addressed the rumors at MCM Comic Con.

“No, it was nothing that had gone wrong. I think it’s a common misconception too – that people think that reshoots are to fix things that people didn’t like. A lot of the time, reshoots are to add more of the things that people loved. [Filmmakers] watch their films again and are like “better fix that”. I don’t know how much I can say about that. Usually films hate it when you talk about their reshoots – solely because people think that it’s because the film was bad for the test audience – but it was all good.”

While this definitely doesn’t necessarily contradict the poor test screening, it does indicate the filmmakers and the studio aren’t too worried about the reports of the poor test screening. This is despite initial reports indicating 20th Century Fox threatened lawsuits when the news of the poor test screenings broke.

It does appear the reshoots were to fix certain things that the filmmakers didn’t like. But it’s entirely possible the reshoots had nothing to do with the poor test screening. It makes sense that the filmmakers would want to see a draft, take notes, and work on some changes they catch after the fact.

It’s also possible Hildebrand’s comments could be damage control pure and simple. However, the amount of detail she presented in her argument tells me that there’s at least some truth to what she is saying.

Regardless, I plan on seeing the film when it makes it’s debut on May 18th. How about you, what do you think? Are reshoots misunderstood, or is Deadpool 2 in trouble?
