Does the New Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Predict the Demise of Loki?

The new Avengers: Infinity War trailer has a lot going on, but one of the scenes that really stood out was Loki standing prisoner with Thanos’ Black Order. Could we see Loki finally die at the hands of Thanos?

Thanos Black Order

In the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer we saw Loki offer up the Tesseract and the Space Stone to Thanos and now we see him apparently being held captive by the Black Order. You can see Proxima Midnight’s deadly spear pointed directly at his head.

But is this just another ploy by the wily Asgardian trickster? We’ve seen him evade death on numerous occasions beginning with Thor. He was able to survive falling from the Bifrost. He would then return in The Avenger, and while he was captured and imprisoned he was still alive. He would then pull off his greatest trick by faking his death and creating an illusion to look like Odin and rule over Asgard.

Kevin Feige promised us that Loki would side with Thanos in the Avengers: Infinity War, however based on the above image it looks like it might be a forced servitude. However, I’m not fully convinced. Loki might be playing his own game. It’s more than likely this scene is taking place on the ship used to shuttle the Asgardians off of Asgard as Surtur destroyed the planet. It’s quite possible Loki could be buying time for Thor to escape and send word to the Avengers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Loki intervened when Thanos was smashing Thor’s head. He still does feel some sort of kinship with his brother.

But buying time for Thor could also work for Loki’s endeavors. He knows the power of the Infinity Stones, but he also knows the strength of the Avengers. He was defeated by them after all. He could be trying to play both sides against each other in order to try and emerge the victor in the end. I wouldn’t put it past Loki to think up something that cunning and dangerous.

What do you think? Will Loki perish at the hands of Thanos or could he try and play Thanos against the Avengers in order to gain the upper hand and allow him to come out on top.
