Kevin Feige: “Interesting People” Voicing Thanos’ Black Order in Avengers: Infinity War
Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige recently revealed Thanos’ Black Order will be voiced by “interesting voices.”
Feige spoke with Vulture and described Thanos’ children known as the Black Order, “There are interesting people doing the voices.” He added, “You’ll probably know when you see the movie.”
Thanos’ Black Order is expected to include Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian, who looks to be an adaptation of Black Dwarf from the comics.
We’ve seen leaked photos of Tom Vaughn-Lawlor in the motion capture suit of Ebony Maw. Vaughn-Lawlor confirmed he was portraying Ebony Maw after the photos surfaced. However, if what Feige is saying, we could get a Darth Vader scenario where one actor portrays the character in the motion capture suit while another lends their voice to the role. David Prowse provided the physical acting for Darth Vader while James Earl Jones gave Darth Vader his iconic voice.
We don’t know a lot about Thanos’ Black Order. Feige and Marvel Studios have done an excellent job of keeping their role in the film quite secretive. We did get a clip of Proxima Midnight in the first trailer throwing her spear at a figure hiding in the shadows. Many believe this is Captain America, but I’ve speculated it could Daredevil or Black Panther.
In a separate scene from the trailer, we see Proxima Midnight standing beside who we believe is Corvus Glaive as he uses his glaive weapon to pry the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead.
As for Cull Obsidian, it’s rumored Terry Notary, who played King Kong in Kong: Skull Island will play Thanos’ right hand man. He also has done extensive motion capture work in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Avatar, Warcraft, and The Hobbit.
Notary spoke to The Hollywood Reporter:
“I’m working on four characters right now. I’m working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I’m playing Josh Brolin’s right hand bad guy in the film. I can’t say the name of the character or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullshit and just play a character truly evil. And it’s working. [Laughs] It’s truly working.”
Who do you want to see voice Thanos’ Black Order?
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
