Fox Releases X-Men: Dark Phoenix Teaser – Reveals Trailer Release Date

Fox and X-Men: Dark Phoenix released their first official teaser trailer for the upcoming film. The teaser also promises a full length trailer will drop sometime tonight.

Take a look:

The teaser is just a still image of Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey. In fact, it’s a profile of her as the cosmos swirl behind her. As the teaser progresses we get a little bit of a light show.

The key parts of the teaser are the actual discussions here. The teaser starts with sadness almost fear, as we hear a woman ask, “What did you do?” James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier responds, “I protected her.” Then Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique responds, “from the truth.” McAvoy then goes on to say, “This is your fault.” There is then another woman’s voice, it could be Jessica Chastain’s who says, “You don’t belong here.”

Finally Michael Fassbender’s Magneto closes the teaser out, “I’ve seen evil and I’m looking at it now.”

Fox’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been a long time coming for fans. The film was originally scheduled to debut this November, but was pushed all the way back to February 14, 2019.

The film will see a number of stars reprise their roles including James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Jessica Chastain joins the cast as the villain known as Smith.

The movie is expected to take place in 1992, 10 years after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse. Director Simon Kinberg revealed just what we could expect from the film back in December of last year. He specifically references Charles Xavier:

“Pride is starting to get the better of him, and he is pushing the X-Men to more extreme missions.”

One of those missions will see the X-Men head into space on a rescue mission. However, while the X-Men team is there, it is expected they will be hit by a solar flare, which will awaken the dormant Phoenix entity that resides in Jean Grey.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on February 14, 2019. The first trailer drops tonight.
