Gina Carano Announces New Film Says “They Can’t Cancel Us If We Don’t Let Them”
After a spokesman confirmed Gina Carano had been fired from Lucasfilm and The Mandalorian, Carano announced a brand new film that is being produced by The Daily Wire.
A Disney spokesman previously told Variety Carano had been fired for “her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
However, this is an outright lie as Carano did no such thing, rather she shared a post to her Instagram account warning about the dangers of hating your neighbor and how that can lead to horrific violence.
You can see the post below.
Speaking with Deadline, Carano announced her new project with The Daily Wire.
She stated, “The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered.”
“I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same,” she continued.
Carano concluded, “They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
Not only is Carano starring in this upcoming project, but she will also be developing and producing it. She will produce alongside Bone Tomahawk producer Dallas Sonnier and his Bonfire Legend banner.
Carano would also share the news on Twitter where she wrote, “This is just the beginning.. welcome to the rebellion.”
The Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro shared his excitement about the announcement saying, “We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left.”
He continued, “This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob.”
Shapiro added, “We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the Xwing to take down their Death Star.”
The Daily Wire made the move into film production when they released the thriller Run Hide Fight produced by Dallas Sonnier and starring former Punisher and The Expanse actor Thomas Jane at the end of 2020.
The film has an overwhelming 93% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes despite the film receiving a 25% on the Tomatometer from activist critics.
While Shapiro believes he’s building an X-Wing to destroy to the Death Star, a more apt comparison might be the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise where in the Universal Century timeline, the Principality of Zeon builds up their own society and culture and eventually rebels against the Earth Federation and their dictates.
Sticking with Mobile Suit Gundam, you could also look at the Iron-Blooded Orphans series where a group of outcasts rises up to become one of the dominant players in the galaxy in their pursuit of happiness and a brighter future.
One America News Network’s Jack Posobiec described this in a recent livestream with Bounding Into Comics.
He stated, “It will mean eventually building a completely separate ecosystem. You are going to have bifurcated systems, parallel tracks, a digital balkanization of the internet. The internet is going to get a little smaller, folks. And we are just going to have to get used to that.”
He continued, “We are no longer going to have the open sandbox, to use gamer technology. It’s not going to be an open sandbox anymore. It’s going to be tighter, concentric circles.”
“There is going to be smaller select groups, perhaps it’s behind paywalls, perhaps not, we are still in that sifting process. But you are going to have a balkanization. You are no longer going to have open internet anymore,” he concluded.
What do you make of Carano’s announcement? How do you see the future of entertainment playing out in the United States moving forward?
