Henry Cavill Excited To Work On Amazon Prime’s ‘Warhammer: 40K’ Universe: “This Is The Stuff I Spend My Free Time Daydreaming About”
In offering up further proof as to why he was the right man to helm any adaptation of the popular tabletop game, Henry Cavill has declared that his ongoing work on a Warhammer 40K film and television series for Amazon Prime has been “the greatest privilege” of his entire career.
The fan-favorite Superman actor shared his feelings towards the pair of projects while promoting his new film Argyle during a February 5th appearance on veteran entertainment reporter Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.
Following discussions on his overall career, attitudes towards sex scenes, and his apparent work on an as-of-yet-undisclosed musical, Horowitz eventually pressed his guest, “I know it’s early days, but Warhammer – I mean, there’s nothing more close to your heart than this. I know this. It must be so exciting to be able to actually like, dive into this world and be one of the ones steering this ship and figuring out what the world you want to create is on Film and TV. What’s this experience been like so far?”

In turn, the actor opined, “It’s the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity.”
“I can’t say too much – again, it’s early days still – but to have this opportunity to bring it to the screen and be at the tiller so it can be faithful is key to me,” said Cavill. “This is the stuff I’ve been dealing with since I was a kid. This is sort of the stuff I spent my free time day dreaming about, as an adult as well, and I get to bring it into life, and there is no greater reason that I joined the industry than doing something like this.”
Interestingly, it was then that the actor and the interview’s other guest, Argyle director Matthew Vaughn, in the conversation, appeared to tease that the latter may, in some capacity, find himself attached to Cavill’s Warhammer universe.
Playfully asked by Horowitz as to whether or not he ever “tried to get Matthew into Warhammer or gaming at all,” Cavill replied, “No, not yet.”
However, the actor’s claim drew protest from Vaughn, who responded to Cavill, “Gaming? I love gaming.”
From there, the director then turned to explain to Horowitz, “We’ve spoken. Listen, I’d love to work with Henry in lots of different ways.”
Capping off this particular conversation, Cavill took note of Vaughn’s vague statement and invited fans to “Watch this space”.
As previously announced by both Amazon and Warhammer 40K developer Games Workshop in December 2022, Cavill’s upcoming projects will see the actor both “star in and executive produce the Warhammer 40K franchise across all Amazon Studios productions.”
“I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me,” said the actor of his new gig. “The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honour and the responsibility. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh-on lifelong dream come true.”
As of writing, none of Amazon’s Warhammer 40K projects have received a confirmed release date.
