Marvel Star Michael Douglas Dismisses Joe Biden’s Cognitive Decline, Agrees The President Is “Sharp As A Tack”
Marvel star and Democratic Party sympathizer Michael Douglas has taken it upon himself to dismiss Joe Biden’s fairly apparent cognitive decline, going as far as to agree that the 81-year-old president is “sharp as a tack.”
During an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Douglas was asked to give his thoughts on Biden and whether he believes the 46th president should have “bowed out and left the field to somebody else” on account of his age.
“Well, I think that I walk a little similar to him,” the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actor joked, adding, “and the people that I’ve talked to, and everybody that I have… say he’s sharp as a tack. He’s fine.”
Douglas then posited, “We all have an issue of memories. As we get older we forget names, or something. He’s overcome a stutter in his life, and sometimes he might [stutter],” as he then proceeded to target Trump, albeit without uttering his name.
“But, let’s just say that [Biden’s] entire cabinet, including his vice president, everybody in his Cabinet, will be more than happy to work with him again in the next term. I cannot say that about the other candidate running, because nobody in his Cabinet from 2016 wants to be involved with him.”
When asked whether he thinks Biden’s mental acuity would still be sharp the next four years, where he to be re-elected, Douglas simply says, “I think he’ll be fine,” later adding, “This is probably the most important election of my lifetime.”
“I share with my kids to the Vietnam War, this is the most critical time in my lifetime, at least that I remember, where we’re at right now,” he continued. “We need somebody in control, in power, who has some experience and knows how to work on a global situation. The world.”
He further declared, “You can’t ask for one side… for us to be globally active but then internally say, ‘we’re just going to isolate.’ Doesn’t work that way any more.”
Michael Douglas might be in the minority of Americans defending Biden’s mental acuity. A Harvard-Harris survey conducted February 21-22 among 2,022 registered voters found that 59% of respondents had doubts about Biden’s “mental fitness” for office. Similarly, 67% of respondents agreed that the 46th president is “too old” to be the head of state.
The word “sharp” has been used by several Biden defenders since the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report about the president’s improper retention and handling of classified documents before taking office.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stressed Biden was “sharp” and on “top of things,” as she addressed the report, which concluded that “no criminal charges are warranted in this matter,” further noting the head of state would present himself to a jury as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
“Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone from whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt,” the report argued. “It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him—by then a former president well into his eighties—of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.”
The report echoes former White House doctor Ronny Jackson’s comments about Biden’s mental fitness, declaring in November of last year, “[The decline is] happening quickly,” asserting, ” I’ve taken care of three presidents… so I know firsthand what it takes to be the commander-in-chief and the head of state.”
“It’s a grueling job, both mentally and physically. This man can’t do the job. He’s proven to us every single day that he can’t do the job, but this is going to get worse,” he warned. “It’s just unbelievable how much he’s degenerated just during his time in office.”
Pointing out that re-electing Biden could be detrimental to the country, Jackson added, “We cannot afford to have this man in office for the remainder of this term and then [for] another four years after that. He’s already putting us at great risk right now.”
