Michael B. Jordan Assures His Vision for a Superman Movie Would Be “Authentic”
Michael B. Jordan’s idea for a Superman movie he could star in is a mystery, but he opened up about the possibility again recently.
MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz broached Jordan about playing The Man of Tomorrow during an interview promoting Jordan’s new film Just Mercy, and Horowitz opined it “could be special.”

Despite taking a reported meeting with execs at Warner Bros. to discuss this very thing, Jordan laughed off the rather leading question slightly. The Black Panther star said he hears time and again he’s up for Morpheus, Superman, Power Rangers, and other things; then addressed what would make him commit to such a role as well as fan sensitivities:
“Anything I do dive in has gotta be done the right way. It has to be full of authenticity. I’m a fan of comic books, you know? I understand the fans being upset at… ‘Oh no, why are they doing this and why are they changing that?’ I would feel the same way about certain things. So, just know, if I ever were to dabble in anything, it would be authentic and something that I feel like people would really support.”

Rumors keep swirling Jordan could wear the cape one day and that Warner Bros. is courting him. However, nothing was corroborated until the report surfaced the studio met with the onetime Human Torch to hear his pitch.
We don’t know much about the actor’s vision but he informed Oprah back in February his attachment to the role is only a rumor:
“Yeah, that was a rumor, I heard that. I heard that. I heard that. I heard a few rumors buzzing around. I think just to be in those conversations, it’s flattering. It’s very humbling.”
He also told her he’d do “something original” based on the established multiverse canon that wouldn’t change what fans know:
“I would be Calvin Ellis. There’s another version of Superman from Earth-23. I’m a comic book guy…There’s another version of Superman in another dimension that is black already in the comic books that exist. I think the comic book purists can accept that more than Clark Kent from Kansas. That’s a different thing.”
Seriously devoted DC Comics readers will remember Calvin Ellis ascended to the US Presidency.

Jordan’s schedule is supposed to keep him busy for the next few years. Regardless, whether he winds up in the boots of a Kryptonian may depend on the status of Henry Cavill who claims the cape is “still mine” and “in the closet.” Cavill also has ideas for a redemptive Superman story.
Lingering too is the matter of J.J. Abrams recasting the part for a potential project he is in talks for after signing a major deal with WB. Nothing is firmly set in stone, but another rumor suggests he wants a younger Superman and at the top of his list is unknown David Corenswet (Netflix’s The Politician).
