New Joker Photo Hints at Plot Details and Red Hood Gang Connection

DC Films is ramping up the hype. First, they revealed a photo of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, then they revealed him in his full Joker makeup. Over the weekend, we got even more including an extremely high quality set video of Phoenix’s Joker terrorizing a metro stop and station.

Now, we are getting a brand new photo from the Evening Standard that hints at a potential huge plot development and one of the greatest Joker stories ever told, The Killing Joke.

The photo comes from the Gotham Post and blares with a headline, “Masked Bandits Steal Collection Box.” The report then goes on to describe that there were “three armed men wearing ski masks.” Later on, it continues with a description of the armed robbers, “they wore gloves, and only one of the men spoke.”

That sure sounds like it could be the Red Hood Gang. And if it is the Red Hood Gang, it’s quite possible that DC Films and Director Todd Phillips are adapting Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s classic, [easyazon_link identifier=”1401216676″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: The Killing Joke[/easyazon_link].

In Batman: The Killing Joke, Moore and Bolland reveal a potential past history for the Joker. He becomes a member of the Red Hood Gang after he falls on hard times. While the gang didn’t rob a church as the newspaper reveals, they did attempt to rob Ace Chemicals, and they had previously robbed an Ice Company in the past. What’s really important to point out is that the Red Hood Gang consists of three members in The Killing Joke, one of them being the future Joker.

Red Hood Gang

If Phillips and company are adapting the Red Hood Gang origin from The Killing Joke, it wouldn’t be the first time it’s been adapted to live-action.

Fox’s Gotham created their own variation on the Red Hood Gang. In this version there were a number of members of the gang and they focused on robbing banks.

What do you think? Could Todd Phillips Joker movie bring the Red Hood Gang to the big screen? Will they be loosely adapting Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s [easyazon_link identifier=”1401216676″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Batman: The Killing Joke[/easyazon_link]?
