On September 5th, Brazillian Marvel fan-account @BRMarvelNews posted leaked images of an upcoming Marvel Legends figure which depicts Hayek as a gender-swapped Ajax, clad in a gold and blue dress, alongside the caption “And it seems it’s official: New leak of Eternals shows Ajak with her costume.”:

The figure’s card-back reads:

Though sites such as Comic Book Movie and Screenrant both covered this leak and featured the above images of Hayek as Ajak in their articles, these websites have since removed them request of Disney.
Details on The Eternals have been scarce, as fans have seen nothing more than the film’s cast, title artwork, and some concept art pieces produced for Disney’s D23 expo, since the films official announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con.
As this leak marks the first official glimpse at the finalized character designs for The Eternals, it has now become clear that the film will be taking some liberties with the original aesthetic given to the characters by comic book legend Jack Kirby:
The removal of Kirby’s aesthetic is especially baffling, given the emphasis placed on his visually style seen Thor: Ragnarok.
Marvel is likely hoping to hit gold with The Eternals similarly to how they took audiences by surprise with Guardians of the Galaxy, as while few people knew of the Guardians before the first film, Groot has gone on toe become a household name akin to Captain America.
However, the problems presented by COVID-19, the attempt by Marvel to develop a new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Avengers: Endgame, the insertion of gender-politics, and the aforementioned abandonment of Kirby’s iconic style may lead audiences to find themselves disinterested in seeing the film.
Originally due out in November of this year, The Eternals has since been pushed back to February 2021.
