New Report Declares Emilia Clarke Is Replacing Amber Heard As Mera In Aquaman 2
An article in Forbes seems to confirm Emilia Clarke is playing Mera in Aquaman 2 and not Amber Heard but the piece is not about the movie.

The piece is written by Keith Flamer, a lifestyle writer for Forbes, and covers Clarke and the sale of her $4.4 million Venice, California, home. The mysterious bombshell that the actress is going to star in the DC sequel as the Queen of Atlantis appears deep within.
Flamer wrote, “She also signed on to replace Amber Heard as Mera in Aquaman 2. Daenerys, Qi’ra, Mera—even her full name, Emilia Isobel Euphemia Rose Clarke, is a chore.” The quote buried in the article randomly comes out of nowhere and no correction or retraction is printed at the end.

It’s information originating from a fairly reliable trade but the intel is not the focus of the piece and a source isn’t named. The piece is also in the wrong section – lifestyle as opposed to entertainment – to be considered breaking news.
From what we’ve gathered in the last several months, Amber Heard is returning to make Aquaman 2 and Warner Bros. is not inclined to get rid of her. She is a domestic abuse survivor in their eyes and worthy of a spinoff film, especially when DC Films doesn’t have as many leading female action heroes as Marvel.
A petition calling for Heard to be fired and replaced with Emilia Clarke keeps gaining signatures but Heard and the studio aren’t taking it seriously.
At least, that’s the impression they give. Contradictory scoops say WB might lessen Heard’s screen time and give Aquaman a new female companion to compete for his affections – probably Dolphin.
Clarke could play that character and end up supplanting Heard that way, but the rumor of a new character is just that, a rumor.

For now, Emilia Clarke’s status with Aquaman 2, if applicable, is unclear. Amber Heard on the other hand is playing Mera in Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League – which is finally out in short order on HBO Max in mid-March.
