New Rumor Reveals The Suicide Squad’s Main Villain

The Suicide Squad will be stacked top to bottom with villains on the side of Amanda Waller and against. But who the real villain of the story is remains a mystery – unless a new rumor is to be believed.

We Got This Covered’s usual unnamed sources are saying they know who it is and he’s a real savage, an immortal one. Yes, the rumor states Vandal Savage – one of DC’s long-living, unkillable tyrants – will be at the center of things.

Savage is a mean one. Rendered eternal and super-intelligent by a meteorite when he was a simple caveman, Vandal Savage has kept himself close to pivotal events on the world stage for 50,000 years or so.

He assumed the identities of countless historical figures of prominence.  Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Vlad the Impaler, Hitler, and Napoleon are among them.

On occasion, he’s been worshipped as a living god too which is par for the course with his class of megalomaniac – e.g., Darkseid, Ra’s-al-Ghul, et al.

Typically, Savage is a thorn in the side of the Justice League in comics and animation. His most notable appearances in the latter medium include recurring villain-of-the-week spots on Justice League/Justice League Unlimited and as leader of the Legion of Doom in Justice League: Doom.

In live-action, he was played by Casper Crump in the Arrowverse and a version named Curtis Knox, played by Dean Cain, showed up on Smallville.

James Gunn’s plot is under wraps but reportedly involves a South American prison that houses an alien “Beast” controlled by two dictators, “The Mayor” and “The General.” One of them is supposedly Vandal Savage or he could be a third figure behind the scenes.

The Beast is believed to be Miss Martian or J’onn J’onnz acting against their will. Controlling him or her, according to what we’ve heard, is Teen Titans foe Psimon. Peter Capaldi is rumored to play Psimon and revealed he shaved his head for some kind of prosthetic.

However, set photos also indicate that this Beast could be Mongal played by Mayling Ng. Mongal is the daughter of the villain Mongul.

For now, Vandal Savage is only a rumor so take it with a grain of salt. If true, one man who knows is Kevin Smith and he’s not spoiling a thing. Smith admitted on his podcast, Fatman Beyond, he heard privately who antagonizes Task Force X.

Without going into very much detail he shared his elation about what Gunn may have in store. “If it is what I heard it is f****** phenomenal” Smith said. “And, boy, is it in the right hands with James Gunn.”

Some of the cast is evident. Margot Robbie is back as Harley Quinn; the same for Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Waller, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg. David Dastmalchian is Polka-Dot Man and newcomer Daniela Melchior plays Ratcatcher.

As for the rest, it’s a best-guess situation when it comes to who the likes of John Cena, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion, and Pete Davidson are playing. Set photos reveal Elba and Cena play convicts and that Fillion bears a resemblance to Booster Gold bad guy Blackguard and Davidson to Savant.

Whoever else Gunn is bringing forth from DC canon, there might be a clue in his new Instagram story. A snapshot was posted to Reddit. The candy in the box, Gunn says, is inspired by Suicide Squad members.

I’m at a loss although the colorful ones could be for Harley and Polka-Dot Man. A few comments guess Metamorpho (which would be awesome). The round green ones at the top could indicate Mogo – the only Green Lantern who’s also a planet – but that might be thinking too big.
