New Super Saiyan God Goku Design Teased for “Dragon Ball Super: Broly”
Another Film, Another Form
The Dragon Ball series is famous for massive action, incredible animation, and escalating power levels. The series has always created new forms and powers for its characters, constantly upping the ante. The most recent series Dragon Ball Super concluded this March. However, the series is living on with feature films. Starting with a Japanese theatrical release of the new movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, in December. Of course, it wouldn’t be a new Dragon Ball story without some new powers.
Dragon Ball Super introduced fans to two brand new forms: Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (phew) otherwise known as Super Saiyan Blue. As the series continued, characters no longer had need for the Red God mode after attaining the power of Super Saiyan Blue. Now, it looks like the Red form will be featured and upgraded for the new film!

The promotional image is obviously blurred, but contains snippets of plenty of characters for the film! Frieza, Piccolo, Bulma, Beerus, Vegeta, Broly and more. Not only that, the release date for the film appears on the image. December 14th. So while some of these designs do look older, it all-but-confirms that these are for the new film. However, it’s possible this could be a fan created poster that added the release date.
God-Tier
All three current forms of Super Saiyan mode are visible in the image! Does this mean Goku will be in all three modes throughout the film? Almost certainly.
This story will put a new spin on the Broly story. One that reintroduces him to Goku and the rest of the Universe. Anyone familiar with Goku knows that he likes to test himself. Never quite utilizing his full power for want of a challenge. It makes the character more interesting and a little child-like. It’s always been the crux of his relationship and rivalry with Vegeta. The fact that one desires power while the other desires growth and challenge. Well, it looks like Goku probably won’t be firing on all-cylinders when he and Broly first meet.
Seeing the tease of the Red God Mode and traditional Super Saiyan mode implies that Goku’s going to use his lesser-forms to fight Broly before going full-power. Broly’s probably not the kind of villain that Goku should be toying with, but when has that stopped him before? It looks like every form of Goku’s Super Saiyan power will be needed to defeat Broly.
Look out for Dragon Ball Super: Broly to get a North American release sometime in January of 2019!
