‘Rogue One’ Actor Mads Mikkelsen Shows Interest In Doctor Doom Role!
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Doctor Strange actor Mads Mikkelsen hinted that he would be interested in taking on the role of Doctor Doom for Fox’s upcoming solo movie starring the villain.
Mikkelsen spoke to Screen Geek where he expressed his interest in portraying the Marvel villain:
Yeah, it’s always interesting. They are experimenting with doing some of the villain’s stories as well. Let’s see if they do that. I’m not familiar that they’ve done it with anyone yet. They haven’t done it with The Joker [and] they haven’t done it with The Penguin. So we’ll see when that day comes.
Mikkelsen then went on to explain what kind of villain character he looks for in any potential role:
Well, I hope that all characters have a little more rounded shape in the sense that they have two sides of the coin. Yes, they are villains. Hannibal is a baddie – but at the same time, we kind of like him. I think all characters – goodies or baddies, should have a little of both and I think that every actor looks for that in a character.
Mikkelsen previously left a Doctor Doom audition for the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot. He explained his reason for leaving:
I didn’t walk out. When I left it, I was just like – this is crazy. I don’t even have long arms. What am I doing in here? The audition was only about long arms. No lines. I felt a little funny.
In hindsight that seems like a fantastic decision because that movie absolutely bombed both commercially and critically. It had an audience rating of 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. It only made $167.9 million worldwide, but only $56.1 million at the domestic box office. It cost an estimated $120 million to produce according to Box Office Mojo.
Do you think Mikkelsen would make a good Doctor Doom?
