Rumor: Ahsoka Tano to Appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
A brand new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker rumor details that Ahsoka Tano will be making an appearance in the film.
The rumor comes from Jedi Paxis on Reddit’s lengthy story summary for the whole film.
Paxis details that Tano will be appearing in the film in voice only. Her voice will be heard in a scene that appears to be heavily influenced by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
After Palpatine returns to full power by siphoning the power of Rey and Kylo Ren, he sends Ren flying down an abyss never to be seen again. Meanwhile Rey is knocked back lying on the ground.
As Palpatine pontificates about how Rey will join him, she begins to reach out to the Force for help. The Force responds and she hears the voices of Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Leia. Paxis does indicate it’s possible there could be other voices as well.
Rey is empowered by the Force and takes the fight to the Emperor wielding Anakin and Leia’s lightsabers as the Emperor attempts to destroy her with his Force Lightning.
Harry Potter fans will recognize the similarity between this rumor and what happens in the Goblet of Fire.
After Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory claim the Goblet, it turns out to be a port key that transports them to a graveyard where Wormtooth performs a ritual that resurrects Voldemort. That ritual involves using the blood of Harry Potter.
After being resurrected Voldemort and Harry Potter would enter into a duel. During the duel, the spirits of Harry’s parents Lilly and James Potter along with Cedric Diggory would arrive to give Harry encouraging words and provide him with a way to escape Voldemort.
As for Ahsoka Tano, it’s odd that she would be one of the people to show up to provide Rey with words of wisdom and encouragement.
Rey might know of her given the books she saved from Ahch-To, but it would make more sense if Luke was there to guide her given he’s the only Jedi she’s ever meet.
The one person that does make sense is Leia given previous rumors that she will end up training Rey in the ways of the Force and Jedi in the beginning of the film.
While some might see this as a nice Easter Egg for Ahsoka Tano, it definitely doesn’t do the beloved character justice.
Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker. She would play an important role in the ensuing Clone Wars TV series fighting alongside Anakin and even leading her own missions. She would become a hero of the Republic.
However, after being falsely accused of bombing the Jedi Temple, the Jedi Council expelled her from the Jedi Order. She would eventually be cleared of all wrongdoing, and was invited back to the Jedi Order. However, she decided to go her own way.
She would go into hiding following Order 66 and reemerge as the Rebel leader Fulcrum in Star Wars Rebels. She would come to the aid of the Ghost on a number of occasions.
During a confrontation with her old master, the new Sith Lord Darth Vader, Ahsoka appeared to perish as a Sith Temple collapsed around her. However, she would survive due to the intervention of Ezra Bridger.
After surviving the Temple, Ahsoka would unite with Sabine Wren and the two would set off to seek out Ezra Bridger who disappeared following the liberation of Lothal.
If Ahsoka appears as a part of The Force in The Rise of Skywalker it indicates the powerful Jedi has somehow met her fate. But it’s quite possible she could still be alive during the events of The Rise of Skywalker.
The Ghost and its crew was an Easter Egg in Rogue One and the crew routinely interacted with Original Trilogy characters like Princess Leia and Lando Calrissian. The show also featured Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Having Ahsoka Tano get only a tiny voice cameo in The Rise of Skywalker feels like an insult to the character. She deserves better.
