Rumor: Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige Pitched A Star Wars Film
A new rumor details that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has already pitched a new Star Wars film.
The rumor comes from The Hollywood Reporter amidst their reporting that Sleight director J.D. Dillard and Luke Cage and One Piece writer Matt Owens are working on a new Star Wars project.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit writes, “The Dillard project is understood to be unrelated to a Star Wars film pitch by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and potential work from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.”
Feige pitching a Star Wars movie is a brand new rumor. The last we heard about Feige and Star Wars came back in September when Walt Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn announced Feige would be producing a Star Wars film alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Horn stated:
“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
As you can see Horn did not offer any details on a Star Wars pitch, but only that Feige would be producing a film.
While Horn made the announcement in September, The Hollywood Reporter indicated Feige discussed getting into Star Wars back in late summer 2019. They also indicated he already had an actor in mind.
A rumor in early September, before Horn’s announcement detailed that Brie Larson would play a lead role in an upcoming Star Wars film.
In October a subsequent rumor indicated Larson could play a live-action Ahsoka Tano.

As for the Dillard and Owens project, Kit’s headline detailed it would be a film, but in the actual article he describes it as a project and questions whether it would be released in theaters or on Disney Plus.
In fact, Kit isn’t even sure if Dillard would direct the project if it moves forward.
This could be one of the feature films that Disney CEO Bob Iger indicated was in development during Disney’s most recent investor call.
Iger stated:
“On the Star Wars front where as I had mentioned in previous calls, we’re taking a bit of a hiatus in terms of the theatrical release. We finished the nine-episode Skywalker saga and we’re developing both television and features.”
While he stated they were developing feature films, he also made it clear their priority would be television moving forward specifically properties related to The Mandalorian.
“The priority in the next few years is television with The Mandalorian Season 2 coming in October and then more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter, including the possibility of infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.”
Iger added:
“So the priority for Star Wars in the short-term is going to be, I’ll call it television for Disney+ and then we will have more to say about development of theatrical soon after that.”
What do you make of this new rumor that Feige has already pitched a Star Wars film? What about this new rumored Star Wars film from Dillard and Owens?
