Russo Brothers Tease Bucky Barnes Could Become Captain America
Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo tweeted out an image that could hint the Winter Soldier could very well replace Captain America following the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
Along with the photo of the Winter Soldier holding Captain America’s shield they added #NewProfilePic.

Including the #NewProfilePic is what makes me think this is an Avengers: Infinity War clue. Captain America: The Winter Soldier debuted in 2014 almost four years ago. It wouldn’t make sense for them to decide to use what appears to be a throwback image to that film with Avengers: Infinity War and Thanos knocking on the Avengers door so soon to release.
Chris Evans has already revealed, he’s basically done with the role following Avengers 4, his contract expires and there doesn’t appear to be any kind of renegotiating going on. However, Marvel Studios does appear to have left the door open for Captain America to return as they’ve hinted he’s been leading the Secret Avengers post-Captain America: Civil War.

Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes has been rumored to replace Evans and take up the mantle of Captain America for a while. Many believed Captain America was going to bite the bullet in Captain America: Civil War. In the comics storyline, Rogers does end up dying. However, Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers had other ideas and Captain America went into the shadows while Bucky Barnes put himself on ice in the African kingdom of Wakanda.
In fact, we last saw Bucky Barnes in Wakanda during a post-credit scene of Black Panther. He’s receiving treatment from Shuri in order to overcome his Soviet programming. Interestingly enough the young village kids begin chanting “White Wolf” when he exits the small hut. Some have theorized he might become the White Wolf in Avengers: Infinity War.
The White Wolf in the comics is actually the adopted brother of T’Challa, Black Panther. He joins Wakanda’s secret police, the Hatut Zeraze and receives the name White Wolf. The Hatut Zeraze’s methods were brutal and they were eventually disbanded following T’Chaka’s death. After T’Challa disbanded them, White Wolf and others from the Hatut Zeraze left Wakanda to become mercenaries.
Do you think Bucky Barnes will become the White Wolf or will he be the next Captain America?
Avengers: Infinity War comes out on April 27, 2018.
