Sony Reveals First Official Look at Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock in the Upcoming Venom Movie!
Sony is finally start to push their upcoming Venom film starring Tom Hardy. We’ve only had a few set leaks and behind the scenes photos from Tom Hardy. We just got our first official look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. You can tell by the notebook, he appears to be taking on his comic book role as a reporter.
Not only did we get our first look at Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock thanks to IGN, we also got the full panel from Comic Con Experience 2017 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
You can hear director Ruben Fleischer reveal the set has been completely closed. He also confirms the story will be based off Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes books.
When Tom Hardy shows up you can hear the crowd go wild! He then goes on to say “I give you my word of honor that I’m going to do everything I can to deliver the best Venom that I can possibly muster. Because I know how important he is to you. And I know how important he is to the Marvel Universe. And I know how important this is for all of us here.”
Watch:
Planet of the Symbiotes was a five issue crossover event that sees Eddie Brock doubt whether or not he is in control of the sentient Venom symbiote that grants him powers. In the leaked set video, it definitely appears that Tom Hardy is fighting with the symbiote. But what might be even more interesting about this storyline is that it sees an army of symbiotes attempt to invade Earth. Venom has to team up with Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider to stop them. It’s quite possible this army of symbiotes might be replaced by Carnage who could be played by Woody Harreslon or Riz Ahmed. Other rumors suggest Riz Ahmed could be playing Dr. Carlton Drake.
The other book Fleischer mentions is Lethal Protector. In Lethal Protector, Venom moves from New York to San Francisco and attempts to reform his life. However, a vengeful father of one of Venom’s past victims tracks him down with a group of super-powered mercenaries in tow. Venom ends up teaming with Spider-Man to defeat five of Venom’s offspring Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.
Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Eddie Brock’s ex-wife Anne Weying, Riz Ahmed, Woody Harrelson, and Jenny Slate. The film heads to theaters on October 5, 2018!
