REPORT: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Casts 2 Major Actors as Peter Parker and Venom

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

One More Actor

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of many, many superhero films coming out in 2018. But this one is special for a few reasons: it’s animated, it includes our first Miles Morales, and is being Godfather’d by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Now, two major names have been added to the voice-cast as Venom and Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man.

According to FandomWire this film connects, somehow, to the Venom-Universe. So who better to voice him than Venom-Actor Tom Hardy! Hardy is one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. The actor is well-known for playing DC villain Bane in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. This time around, he’ll be playing one of the best anti-villains ever in Venom. Hardy is willing to commit to the character in any way, shape or animated form.

The next casting choice is a bit more surprising. The end of the recent trailer for the film revealed that Miles has a mentor: Peter Parker.

FandomWire also revealed that the actor voicing Peter Parker is John Krasinski. The actor is most famous for playing Jim Halbert on The Office. But in recent years, Krasinski has bulked up and found himself in quite a few action roles. He starred in Michael Bay’s 13 Hours. He’s also becoming Jack Ryan in the upcoming Jack Ryan series. Not to mention he is starring and directing in the fantastic-looking, A Quiet Place. Krasinski has also got some voice-acting experience. He had a major role in the English voice-cast of Hiyao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises as well as numerous stints on American Dad.

But if Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is directly connected to the Venom-Universe, Krasinski’s casting could have major implications for the film.

No Tom Holland?

Supposedly this film connects to Venom. It would certainly make sense, as it even includes the actor that plays him. But if Krasinski is playing an elder-Parker, does that mean that Tom Holland definitely won’t be appearing in the Venom film?

A recent rumor has suggested that Holland could have a cameo in the upcoming film. But nothing is ever set in stone. Especially when it comes to the Marvel relationship between Sony and Marvel Studios/Disney. Hopefully, the studios can come to some sort of agreement. One that gives audiences the best of both worlds. Literally.

But either way, Krasinski is yet another fantastic choice to give voice to one of comics greatest: Peter Parker. There will likely be plenty of jokes to be made about the fact that Parker is getting another re-cast in such a brief span of time. But considering that Miles Morales needs a mentor, who better than the original Spider-Man? As an older Spider-Man, this will be a side of the famous Avenger audiences haven’t seen before. A fresh and new perspective on one of the oldest characters in comics.

Krasinski as Peter Parker is yet another reason to be excited for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, in theaters on December 13th.
