Star Wars Episode IX: John Boyega Hints His Time With Star Wars is Over – Could Finn Die?
Star Wars actor John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new trilogy, informed his followers that filming for Star Wars Episode IX has finished, but he also hinted that his time with Star Wars is over.
Boyega would Tweet out a picture of him, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, and what appears to be Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron. He stated, “That’s a wrap on Star Wars episode 9 and the end to a chapter of my life that I couldn’t be more thankful for. What a process! It really has been a joy to be in these surrounded by amazing people. JJ thank you for making my dreams come true.”

Star Wars Episode IX director J.J. Abrams also confirmed photography for the film wrapped.
It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all. pic.twitter.com/138AprtFuZ

Rolling Stone had reported in December of 2017 that Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, would be exiting the franchise following Star Wars Episode IX. However, Ridley would appear on Entertainment Tonight to debunk that story claiming that Rolling Stone “misquoted her.”
Ridley would explain:
“Misquote. It was a misquote. Firstly that was at the end of a very long day. The end of a very long shoot. It was pouring it down with rain in Montreal. We were talking about where the trilogy is going, wherever it is. All I said was as far as I was concerned when I signed on, I was signing on to VII, VIII, and IX. I don’t know about any plans beyond that. That’s for Disney, that’s for anyone else in charge to decide.”
She would tell Entertainment Tonight that she is up for the possibility of continuing work with Star Wars following the conclusion of the trilogy, “Yea, who knows.”
Given Boyega’s Tweet it’s quite possible Disney might not see a future for John Boyega’s character moving forward following Episode IX. Could that mean his character ends up dying in this final film?
What do you make of Boyega’s Tweet? Do you think it means his character will die in Episode IX? Do you think it means he just won’t do any more Star Wars films? Or do you think it means something else?
