WATCH: First Official Ant-Man and the Wasp Trailer!
Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas are back for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp!
Take a look at the first official trailer for the upcoming film!
What’s really interesting is the trailer starts off with a direct tie-in to Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War. Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang asks Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne, “When Cap needed help, if I had asked you would you have come?” Her response is classic, “I guess we’ll never know. But if you had, you’d have never been caught.”
The film definitely looks like it will be focusing in on Lang’s decision to help Captain America and defy the Sokovia Accords. The FBI raid his home and he’s on house arrest. They’ve even put an ankle bracelet on him. But it’s not just Lang, who is affected. Lilly’s Hope van Dyne explains, “Thanks to you, we had to run.”
And that’s when the trailer kicks into high gear. Michael Douglas shrinks, SHRINKS an entire building! But then he pulls out a handle from its roof and walks it around like a briefcase!! Are you kidding me?!?
We then get a glimpse of Laurence Fishburne’s Dr. Bill Foster. There’s also a quick shot of what appears to be Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost.
Maybe, my favorite part of the trailer is the way they are using Hank Pym’s technology. There’s a fun car chase scene with Hope van Dyne in the driver seat. As a bunch of bad guys begin unloading rounds of bullets at them, she quickly shrinks the van, only to bring it back to full size sending their pursuers flying into the air!
We also get some very short glimpses of what appears to be the Quantum Realm. Then there is an excellent combat scene showing off Hope van Dyne’s martial talents as well as her upgraded equipment. She’s got wings and blasters for those of who aren’t familiar with the Wasp in the comics.
And if you thought that was the end of the trailer, you are wrong. Hope van Dyne has one more trick up her sleeve and it’s a Pez container, which incidentally turns into a lethal weapon when enlarged and tossed at a bad guy on a motorcycle!
The film looks like it will have Marvel’s trademark humor with plenty of action and innovative uses of the Pym Particle. It looks like lots of fun! And we didn’t even get to see Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne or Michael Peña’s Luis.
Ant-Man and the Wasp comes to theaters on July 6, 2018. It is directed by Peyton Reed. The film stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Hanna John-Kamen, Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Pfeiffer, Judy Greer, and Abby Ryder Forston.
