Katie Cassidy Dishes On What We Can Expect From Black Siren In Arrow Season 6!
The CW’s Arrow is fast approaching as Season 6 is right on the horizon! As the season draws near fans will finally get the opportunity to learn decisive details about the Black Siren’s back story? The future of the Black Canary character was left up in the air for fans when she was killed by Damien Darhk during the 18th episode of Season 4. It was a massive departure from the comic source material and many fans were left wondering if Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy, would find a new way back into the show.
This was answered thanks to Earth 2 which housed Lance’s doppelganger, Black Siren. The last time the character was seen was on the island of Lian Yu alongside Prometheus’s henchman and Team Arrow. Their fates were left in question after the cliffhanger which saw Prometheus sacrifice himself to blow up Lian Yu.
Fast forward a few months to the Season 6 trailer which premiered at San Diego Comic Con. We see that Black Siren survives the blast. Both Drake and Deathstroke survive as well. Now that they confirmed her survival it explains why the show is taking the time out to explore her past.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Cassidy said she believed that Arrow will take time out to explore Earth 2 Laurel and her past, which we can expect to be quite perplexing compared to her Earth 1 counterpart. Not only that, but with Earth 2’s Oliver Queen dead, their relationship and dynamic has plenty of room to be explored within the show. Cassidy stated:
Yes, I think the more we learn about her backstory and what her relationship was like with Oliver, absolutely. I think it will make sense in the end and not necessarily make her as bad of a person. You might be like ‘Oh, okay that makes sense.’ Yes, I do think we’ll know more.
She added:
Yes, I do think there’s a chance at redemption for her. I think there will be people who understand when she has the opportunity and once we learn what she’s gone through, why she is the way that she is. I think people will be able to relate to it, have sympathy for her. I think there’s a chance at really helping her get back to who she is at her core, and potentially not be so crazy, and have a good side to her, but I think as time goes on we’ll learn that.
This could be a way to bring the Black Siren into the light with a drawn out redemptive arc that sees her evolve further. Maybe Black Siren could even become Black Canary?
No matter how they spin this, Arrow is on track to keep going up. Season 5 gave the series its best season since Season 2 and we can only expect even better for Season 6!
Now how will the creators take this second wind from fans? With a cliffhanger that ended Season 5, the show has more than enough room to try new things and give Arrow fans what they want. There are still some characters that lack some development, such as Black Siren, but with Season 6 setting to launch we’re going to have to wait it out before we find out the path Arrow takes.
Fans don’t have long to wait, Season 6 of Arrow premieres Thursday, October 12 on The CW.
