As reported by Deadline on March 29th, Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed that Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Kumail Nanjiani (The Eternals), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Hitman: Agent 47), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (The Fast and the Furious franchise), Simone Kessell (Terra Nova), and Benny Safdie (Good Time) will join Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen in the Star Wars spin-off series.

The series will also see the Star Wars returns of Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse, who previously portrayed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, respectively, in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

Last November, a rumored casting call for the series claimed that the series was seeking to specifically cast a female BIPOC co-lead and two female supporting roles, one for a BIPOC actor and the other for a ‘Latinx’ actor.

While Disney and Lucasfilm did not confirm any details regarding the newly announced actors’ roles, it’s possible that, if the casting call is to be believed, Ingram (black), Varma (Indian), or Kessell (Maori), could fill the supposed ‘BIPOC’ roles.

Though none of the announced actresses identify as Latin, it’s possible that the series could add additional cast members, including their desired ‘Latinx’ supporting actor, down the line.

Additionally, Disney and Lucasfilm revealed that the series, which is set to feature the supposed “rematch of the century” between the title character and his former apprentice, Darth Vader, would begin filming on April 1st.
