Pedro Pascal Provides Update On The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal recently provided an update on the production of The Mandalorian Season 3.

There were rumors swirling last year that Pascal had quit filming the show in the middle of The Mandalorian Season 2 due to a dispute about filming scenes with his helmet off, and it wasn’t clear if he had resolved those rumored issues.

That rumor began with YouTuber Grace Randolph.

She claimed, “While filming Season 2 Pedro Pascal really wanted to have some scenes with his helmet off.”

However, she noted, “The Mandalorian creative team wouldn’t budge on this.”

She further explained, “So Pedro Pascal, from what I’ve heard from two sources now, was frustrated about this and also was pretty darn uncomfortable in the Mando suit on set. So, he became difficult.”

She then detailed, “And the final straw though, even though he was difficult to be around on set. The final straw was that he went to Lucasfilm, from what I’ve heard from my sources, to try and get them to intervene on his behalf.”

Randolph continued, “And you combine that with Lucasfilm already trying to get involved with story aspects of Season 2, which I’ve also heard. Including focusing more on standalone episodes rather than making them more connected, which is what I’ve heard The Mandalorian creative team wanted to do, which was kind of happening at the end of Season 1

“So, when Pedro Pascal went to Lucasfilm, the Mando team was like, ‘You know what, you should just go.’ And Pedro Pascal did. So that happened halfway through filming,” she asserted.

If you’ve seen The Mandalorian Season 2, Pascal does film scenes without his helmet on despite it going against the character’s creed and beliefs.

And as for him being disgruntled on set, Pascal would address those rumors in an interview back in December. He was specifically asked if he wanted to have his helmet off in future Mandalorian episodes.

He responded saying, “No. That is not true, actually. It’s a really wonderful way of telling the story. It’s always been a clear creed for the character and the collaborative process for the whole thing… We’ve all been on the same page with this, I think.”

He added, “What I want is for them to make the best show possible. However they get that done.”

Now, Pascal is addressing whether or not he’s begun production on The Mandalorian Season 3.

In a clip from an upcoming Actors on Actors interview between Pascal and Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor, Pascal is asked if production on the third season has begun.

He responds, “We haven’t shot a third season. So confidentially…no maybe I shouldn’t.”

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise as The Mandalorian creator and executive producer Jon Favreau revealed the third season would not go into production until they finished The Book of Boba Fett.

Favreau first explained to Good Morning America that The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian are different shows, “So this is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3. But what we didn’t say in that announcement is that the next show coming up, Kathy said the next chapter, and that is going to be The Book of Boba Fett.”

He then went on to reveal The Mandalorian Season 3 will film after The Book of Boba Fett, “And then we go into production right after that on Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Back with the main character that we all have known and love. That is pretty soon following that. So, we are working on that pre-production now while we are in production on Boba Fett”

While according to Pascal they aren’t filming yet, it’s possible they could be filming soon. Star Wars scooper Bespin Bulletin claimed back in April that production could begin soon.

The scooper wrote, “As of late I’ve been seeing more and more evidence that production is due to begin very, very soon on the third season of The Mandalorian.”

He added, “According to my sources, multiple departments and different companies working on the production have really ramped up to meet deadlines, many of which is for this month.”

What do you make of Pascal’s claims that they have not begun filming The Mandalorian Season 3?
