Rumor: New Leak Claims To Confirm Return Of Daredevil And Kingpin To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

With the recent appearance of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in the lackluster Disney Plus Hawkeye series, one wonders what’s next for the two characters and where will they appear among the MCU’s open slate of future projects.

To that end, thanks to CBR, a small leak has appeared in the form of a resume belonging to costume designer Stacy Caballero, who is reportedly set to work on the Hawkeye spin-off Echo next year.

Therein, Caballero lists both D’onofrio and Cox as two of her costuming assignments for Echo.

While this leak has seen wide circulation, with many believing it to be completely legitimate, detractors have noted that D’Onofrio’s name is mispelled as ‘D’Onofiro’ on Caballero’s resume.

However, it’s also possible that this was just a simple spelling error – After all, I personally misspelled his name three times while writing this article.

As it stands, it appears as if we could be seeing Kingpin and Daredevil cross paths once again during the events of Echo.

Outside of the Maya Lopez-centric series, there’s also the possibility that this appearance may lead to Daredevil once again headlining his own solo series, as Cox has shown previously shown interest in returning to the horns under certain conditions.

Asked by ComicBook.com just last month if he though it was possible for Matt’s story to “be told without scaling back for a more wider, all-ages audience?”, the actor replied, “I guess what you can’t deny is Daredevil is never going to work as well in a PG world as Spider-Man does.”

“Do you know what I mean?” he added. “That’s the point. I think that the age of the character, the Christian guilt, his history with women and stuff… it’s a little bit more mature, it has to be.”

A previous rumor, courtesy of Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton, claimed that not only is a Daredevil reboot series in the works for Disney Plus, “it’ll be R-rated,” with his sources indicating “that the new MCU Daredevil series will be behind a parental lock.”

Further, a follow-up rumor also provided by Sutton suggested that both Bullseye actor Wilson Bethel and Elektra actress Élodie Yung will be recast for Horn Head’s proper Disney debut.

“Wilson Bethel wasn’t a bad actor,” wrote Sutton on March 30th. “But he certainly didn’t look like Bullseye in the comics. That’s not his fault. Jeph Loeb had an aversion to costumes, it seems like. Still, Marvel Studios wants an actor with superior acting abilities.”

In conclusion to his information, Sutton also noted that, “Marvel Studios plans to recast Elektra.”

Do you think Disney will allow a more adult-themed Daredevil into their, as Cox put it, “PG world”, or will they choose to leave him behind with the rest of Marvel’s Netflix outings?

If Daredevil does make it to Disney Plus, would you like to see him stick to the character’s darker roots, as highlighted in the Netflix show, or something more akin to Marvel’s usual fare?
