That assurance took a turn when a rumor sprouted detailing the show would have its own version of John Constantine. Now the show may have found its man to portray the wizarding scoundrel.

We will have to wait longer to find out for sure. The UK, where Sandman is filming, is under strict COVID lockdown protocols again, hitting pause on the production.

“Taron Egerton is involved in the project and he will be playing John Constantine,” a source told Small Screen. “Filming’s paused right not because of the UK lockdown, but he’ll be filming his scenes for the first season when restrictions are lifted.”

Filming on Sandman started in October according to Small Screen’s report. It’s also noted Egerton is from the same place in the UK, Constantine is in the comics – Merseyside in the northwest of the country, the home of Liverpool.

Egerton would be the first actor to play a DC character from the same neck of the woods as the performer. And, much more interestingly, he already played Constantine once, voicing him in the Audible version of Gaiman’s tome.
