‘Scalped’ Getting Television Adaptation from WGN America
Jason Aaron and R.M. Guera’s Scalped series from DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint will be getting a television adaptation from WGN America.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that “Banshee’s” Doug Jung will be helming the project including writing the script and acting as the executive producer for the Warner Horizon Television Drama. The project is being “described as a crime noir set on a Native American reservation.”
Scalped debuted in 2007 and ran for 60 issues into 2012. It focused on the inhabitants of the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in South Dakota. They struggle to deal with organized crime, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, and local politics all while trying to maintain their cultural identity.
The show will join WGN America’s growing slate of programming that includes Radiant Doors, Shadow Land, Salem, Manhattan, and the 10 Commandments miniseries.
