During a recent interview with Speak Out‘s Christine Yeargin, as transcribed by pro-life organization LiveAction, the former child star revealed that she is not only a pro-life advocate but that she even helped save a baby from an abortion, explaining that she believes life begins in the womb.
“I honestly believe that you either believe in life as life as a whole, and you see babies, whether babies are in the womb or outside of the womb, as life or you don’t,” she asserted. “Once life begins — that is a whole baby. That is a beautiful life, and for me, I will do whatever it takes to protect that.”
The former Spy Kids star went on elaborate on being pro-life, explaining that some people may not fully grasp the actual concept.
“I think a lot of people feel like in today’s day and age if you’re pro-life that means you’re just pro-birth, and I think that’s a huge misconception on what being pro-life means,” she opined.
PenaVega went on, “Pro-life means all of life, like looking at the aspect of the child but also the mom. The mom needs resources. The mom needs help. She needs love and guidance and sometimes finances.”
Furthermore, the actress has also noted how important it is that new mothers get the resources necessary to support their babies — one of the essential pillars of the pro-life movement — and condemned those who choose to abort their babies.
“I just think that we’re just in such a dark, dark place in our world, and you know, people are calling good bad and bad good and we’re fully seeing it,” she declared.
PenaVega continued, “We’re in a war right now, and it breaks my heart the people have been really manipulated into thinking that human life is just so disposable and they can’t even look at a baby as … a human that is alive.”
“When I go back to ‘Why am I hardcore pro-life?’ because I believe that you’re killing life [in an abortion],” the actress doubled down.
PenaVega also revealed that she spoke to a teenage mother on a Zoom call for well over an hour, convincing her to decide against going through the baby-murdering procedure.
“I’ve never had this conversation before, what do you even say to a young girl who’s in this position?” PenaVega recalled. “I just told her about the joy that I have with my kids and the greatest thing that I ever felt was like being able to tuck them in at night and like seeing their beautiful little sleeping faces.”
“Those are moments that just are so life-giving,” the actress said. “They’re so simple and yet they’re the most beautiful things you can experience as a mom,” she added, going the extra mile to promise the young girl she would support her throughout the pregnancy and birth, if need be.
PenaVega is well aware that her pro life beliefs are not welcome in progressive Hollywood, which was one of the deciding factors of her leaving California altogether.
Last summer, Alexa and her husband Carlos — former star on Nickelodeon’s hit show Big Time Rush — moved to Hawaii where they are now raising three children, after coming to the realization that their hearts were no longer in Los Angeles.
“We didn’t want to raise our kids in Los Angeles. I felt this tug in my heart. I felt it was God going, ‘You guys need to get out of here. It’s time. I didn’t want to move.’ I knew it was the right decision,” Alexa told Fox News.
Alexa and her husband Carlos both felt like they were losing themselves after hitting rock bottom in the Hollywood film industry.
“I was the one trapped in the entertainment world and needed to take a step back,” the actress disclosed. “My job became my identity. God pulled me out of that so I could learn how to be an awesome mom and an awesome wife.”
PenaVega further explained, “God helped us build that foundation in our family. And once I had that revelation, I felt at peace.”
Alexa is no longer is concerned with being canceled by an industry that is openly hostile to her beliefs as a Christian.
“I remember when I first started really speaking out about it and it was considered taboo and cliche and people stopped working with me because of it. Different brands were like ‘We don’t want anything to do with her,’ and I’m like, ‘That’s fine,’” she recounted.
“They can cancel you. They can hurt you. But you know you’re making the right choice,” she concluded.
