Halloween Star Jamie Lee Curtis Weighs in on Colin Kaepernick and Nike with Halloween T-Shirt
Actress Jamie Lee Curtis who will be starring in the upcoming Halloween sequel weighed in on the Colin Kaepernick and Nike deal.
On Wednesday morning, Curtis tweeted “I mean… come ON! Need/want! Standing with Nike and Halloween movie!” She would include an image of a T-shirt that reads “MIKE” and is accompanied by Mike Myers holding an enlarged Nike logo in his hand much like he would do with a knife or hammer.

Curtis’ tweet is in response to Nike renegotiating their contract with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick to be the face of their “Just Do It” campaign as it enters its 30th year. Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson reported that Nike renegotiated their deal after Kaepernick received “interest from other shoe companies.”
A lot behind the curtain here. @Nike had Kaepernick since 2011 but this is actually a new deal done by Kaepernick’s reps @markgeragos & @meiselasb. Nike sat on Kaepernick for 2 years w/ no idea what to do with him. Interest from other shoe companies absolutely changed their tune. https://t.co/IJJnjxWHLS

Kaepernick and Nike revealed the first ad earlier this week.

When the stock market opened on Tuesday after the holiday break, Nike’s shared dropped by nearly 4 percent. Bloomberg reported, “Nike shares slipped as much as 3.9 percent to $79.” The Wrap reported Nike lost $3.75 billion in mark cap after trading opened on Tuesday.
Many people began to boycott Nike after their choice to make Kaepernick the face of their ad campaign.
I’m just some lowly deplorable from Iowa. Who happens to blow through $10k in Nike tennis gear every season. Not anymore. #BoycottNike #HelloAdidas pic.twitter.com/8gAx8h3wvc

Let’s not forget this whole thing started with Colin Kaepernick wearing socks that showed cops as “pigs.” Nike needs to re-evaluate the meaning of “sacrificing everything” for what you believe. Here’s my own version. #BoycottNike #BacktheBlue pic.twitter.com/gZgJmzVsrY

There were also a number of folks who began to criticize the boycotters.

It’s crazy how white people would #BoycottNike but not ICE, the trump administration decisions and especially the KKK. Flags and your “patriotism/wannabe culture” is really more important than innocent lives??

People burning their Nike shoes/apparel are idiots. #BoycottNike is BS. Go donate your Nike to people who ACTUALLY need it. Burning and your stupidity are bad for the environment.
