Latest Star Wars Battlefront II Update Brings Big Fun In A Small Package
EA and DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront II has enjoyed a big resurgence with players lately.
With the lackluster quality of Disney’s sequel trilogy on the big screen, Star Wars fans have been looking to other mediums to satisfy their Star Wars appetite.
Games like Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the aforementioned Battlefront seem to be just what the doctor ordered.
Star Wars Battlefront II is a good comeback story. DICE has added a lot of improvements and free content since the game’s auspicious beginning.
In three years, the game has managed to fix a lot of broken trust and hurt feelings from the lootbox controversy and issues that plagued it during its first year.
Battlefront has quietly become one of the better shooters in gaming right now, due to DICE’s constant support and desire to improve.
That’s the case in the latest update, which added the Scarif map and two new heroes, BB-8 and BB-9E.
The Scarif map will go live later in the month, while both droids are available now.
The patch notes are lengthy, so I’ll highlight some features:
-
Two new Heroes, BB-8 for the Resistance and BB-9E for the First Order, are now available.
-
Supremacy and Instant Action are now available on new Planets (Takodana, Jakku, Ajan Kloss).
-
Added new Capital Ship interior maps, the MC85 Star Cruiser and the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, as part of the Supremacy game mode on the new planets.
-
Hero Showdown is now available on Ajan Kloss.
-
New emotes have been added for Finn (Thumbs Up) and Kylo Ren (Showdown), unlockable via milestones.
BB-8 and BB-9E have already become player favorites in just a couple of days since being available.
Youtuber Phantom, posted his BB-8 gameplay with an impressive 96 kill streak.
While both BB droids play similarly with a primary shock prod attack, BB-8 gets a tiny edge offensively.
He has a charge attack, a spinning cable attack, and a defensive buff ability for teammates.
BB – 9E has a spinning charge that overheats weapons, and an offensive buff for teammates, as well as a charge.
Based on the recent clips floating around Twitch and YouTube, a lot of people are having a blast on Star Wars Battlefront II now.
