The latest set of alleged Genshin Impact leaks have revealed what may be the characters coming to the upcoming Fontaine region.

While the exact source of the leaks is unknown, they have made their way onto r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks. While moderators initially marked the claim “questionable,” the image was later “removed by Reddit’s Legal Operations team,” lending some credibility. Further, two of the characters have been known for some time.

The “Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail” video from the official Genshin Impact YouTube channel, published in 2020, showed previews for upcoming regions. At 2:03 we see what may be a pair of thieves or entertainers from the Fontaine region (as shown above). Previous leaks claimed these characters are named Lyney (the boy in the top hat), and Lynette (the girl with cat ears).

The leaked image allegedly shows ten upcoming Genshin Impact characters — nine of them as models in A-poses, one as concept art, and two being Lyney and Lynette. The characters are also grouped into two pairs of four, and two characters on their own — possibly signaling some affiliation with one another.

All the characters in question seem to have clothes that, while fantastical, are inspired by French clothing from the 1800s. Namely, jackets with lapels and tails, frills, cravats, and other aristocratic accessories. Other European countries and time periods may also be an inspiration, however.

Thanks to Twitter user @SipSipStefen we can get a look at the alleged line up of characters from the Fontaine region.

In the first group we see three girls and a man. The first woman is Lynette, with little or no change in her design since the 2020 video. The man is tall, and with mid-length silver or grey hair. His full-length dark blue suit is extravagant, ending in tapered points like insect or bird wings. A white cravat and royal blue lapels with small ornaments hanging off them sit on his chest.

The second woman has short, white hair, with a bright blue coat with frilly long bustle on the rear. She wears a white jacket, blue ribbon sash, and black cravat underneath, white shorts and thigh-high socks, and small blue shoes with large white frills. She wears a small blue top hat at a jaunty angle, complete with crown-like spikes on the top.

The final girl of the first quartet appears to be quite young, like Klee or Qiqi. She has short ice-blue hair, wearing a white dress with aquamarine sleeves, and small pink and aquamarine bows lining the skirt. She wears another pink bow around her neck with long ribbons, and a small heart-shaped bag or accessory on her hip.

Along with white tights, she seems to have some kind of hair accessory akin to a maid’s headband (white with a red stripe). This headpiece seems to have blue feathers making two animal-like ears, but this may also be her own hair.

The first solo character we see appears to be a female musketeer with long black hair, and a single silver streak. This is the character who exists only as concept art. They have a teal outfit (though more green), with gold highlights and accessories. They wear a pointed cavalier hat, a golden cravat, a red rose, and black gloves armored with gold.

They are wearing their jacket like a cape, with sleeves flowing behind them, and nonchalantly tossing an apple into the air that they’ve been eating. They’re also wearing black shorts, dark tights, and white boots with a black cuff. They’re holding an ornate sword, with a hand-guard like a rapier but with a thicker blade, spiraling and twisted almost like an animal horn or shell.

The next group of four are all dressed in dark reds one way or another, and appear to be a quartet of flat-chested girls. The first has long purple hair and a black eye-patch. She wears a red shoulderless dress, with separate sleeve-gloves that start black and end white. Along with white thigh-high boots, she seems to have a black military-style cap, tall, cylindrical, and with a pointed brim.

The second of the “reds” is Lyney. Despite their somewhat feminine appearance and stockings with garters, the character is reportedly a boy. The third character is a girl with pink hair in long curls and a monocle. She wears a red jacket that exposes her chest and shoulder — tied together with a white belt — a white shirt with a small black ribbon, suspenders, a red beret with feather, and white shoes.

The last of the red quartet is a grey-haired girl with platted twin-tails, tied off with black bows at the tips. She has a frilly black bonnet with horn-like feathers and an emblem on the front. She seems to be wearing a red corset with separate sleeves (with huge cuffs), a black choker with a tie, a black skirt with a large grey bow, and knee-high black boots topped with red bows.

The final character, another standing alone — and not visible in the leaked image shared by Twitter user @SipSipStefen — appears to a blond woman wearing predominantly black, but with a dark yellow bustle that reaches her shins behind her. In some ways, her outfit could be akin to a can-can dancer’s.

They have a wide-brimmed black hat with a feather in it, a black corset with a white shirt underneath, a black choker with a jewel hanging off it, arm-length gloves with cuffs at the top, and black thigh-high boots.

Community speculation seems to point towards the new characters being from Fontaine, as this is the next region in the Archon Quest after the current chapter in Sumeru. Several NPCs in Liyue state they come from Fontaine — with several others wearing the same dark-red shirts with black waistcoats. What one in particular says about the region would match the character leaks.

Francis, a traveling merchant and gourmand, describes Fontaine as a place that “revers true beauty and elegance,” and while “Some people from other countries may find our dress sense showy and impractical, but for us, there is nothing more commonplace.”

@SaveYourPrimos, a Twitter account dedicated to rounding up Genshin Impact news and leaks, stated, “The Fontaine lineup artwork is real. The purple-haired tall female appears to have had her colour palette updated and doesn’t match either design we have on-file. Glad they kept the silver streak, though.” This would seem to be the black-haired musketeer.

In a since-deleted tweet by leaker @merlin_impact — and as reported by SportsSkeeda — some of these characters will come from Mondstadt. @SaveYourPrimos recaps, stating, “According to @merlin_impact, not all of the leaked lineup is from Fontaine, and that we should be ready for a Mondstadt update.”

SaveYourPrimos shares merlin_impact's claim that not all the characters from the Genshin Impact Fontaine leak will actually be from that region, and some will come from an alleged update to Mondstadt via Twitter

It should be noted @DailyLynetteGI speculated the musketeer lady and the monocle girl were from Mondstadt, @merlin_impact reacted with the bulging eyes emoji, suggesting that may be the case. However, the monocle lady is wearing red — the same as other Fontaine NPCs and the quartet of red characters including Lyney.

Being the next major chapter in Genshin Impact‘s story, it won’t be long until we know more about Fontaine and its characters.
