Jessica Jones Star Mutates For X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Jessica Jones actor Wil Traval who portrayed Will Simpson or Nuke hinted he will be joining the new X-Men sequel X-Men: Dark Phoenix on Twitter a few months ago.

Traval’s casting is not confirmed and it is unclear what role he would play in the film.

Wil Traval does have extensive comic book and fantasy acting experience from his work as Nuke in Jessica Jones to the Sheriff of Nottingham in Once Upon a Time. He even had a guest appearance in Arrow last year as Christopher Chance, the Human Target.

There also isn’t much information about the movie in general. Back in February Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner who made her debut as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse did confirm she was working on an upcoming X-Men project, believed to be X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Turner told HeyUGuys:

We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8! So I’ve got a busy year lined up.

Along with Turner’s reveal, My Entertainment World reported production would begin on June 15, 2017 and released a plot synopsis:

Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!

The last time we saw parts of the Dark Phoenix head to the big screen was in the disappointing X-Men: Last Stand. The story was originally written by Chris Claremont with art by Dave Cockrum and John Bryne within the pages of Uncanny X-Men #129-138 from January to October of 1980.

Marvel has adapted the story on a number of occasions including the X-Men animated series and the Wolverine and the X-Men.

The Dark Phoenix saga opens up possibilities of January Jones returning as Emma Frost and the introduction of Mastermind as well as possibly crossing over the Fantastic Four franchise with the X-Men.
