Guardians Of The Galaxy Director James Gunn Would Be Excited For A Ravagers Movie!
Following the epic post-credits scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans have been pressing Marvel for an original Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Michael Rosenbaum who portrays Martinex, one of the original Guardians, has made his intentions of wanting a solo original Guardians film well known.
And now James Gunn stoked the flames. In an interview with Collider the director talked about a potential original Guardians film, “There’s always discussion with Ravagers – it would be The Ravagers.” He then went on to express his excitement for the potential project, “It’s always a possibility. I would be excited.”
As Gunn points out the film would not be Guardians or Guardians 3000 like the original comic team created by Arnold Drake and Gene Colan.
In the comics, the team was from the 31st Century from Earth-691. It consisted of Vance Astro, Charlie-27, Yondu, and Martinex. They lead the resistance against the Badoons, a reptilian race which had conquered both the Sol and Alpha Centauri systems among others.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we were introduced to the original Ravagers team which consisted of Yondu Udonta, Stakar Ogord, Martinex, Charlie-27, Aleta Ogord, Mainframe, and Krugarr.
It might be a bit before Gunn is able to dedicate time to developing a Ravagers movie as he has already dived into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He is currently working on the screenplay for the final film featuring the current cast of the Guardians of the Galaxy. That cast includes Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Mantis.
