Jabba The Hutt Movie Reportedly In The Works

After the confirmation that Disney and Lucasfilm are developing a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, there are now reports of a potential Jabba the Hutt spinoff film.

Variety reports:

Some of the other standalones in development include a Jabba the Hutt story and a Boba Fett movie.

Along with a potential Jabba the Hutt film, Lucasfilm is also looking at a Boba Fett movie as well as a solo Yoda film.

It’s unclear how far into development either of these movies are. They could already have the green light or Disney and Lucasfilm could just be throwing them out there to see what fans are interested in.

Lucasfilm is already working on a Han Solo project which is being directed by Ron Howard. That film will showcase the early escapades of Han Solo and Chewbacca. It allegedly will include his first meeting with Lando Calrissian.

Jabba the Hutt played a key role in the original Star Wars trilogy. He was a secondary villain who was hunting down Han Solo for not being able to repay his debts. Jabba was a notorious gangster who ruthlessly enforced his own law in the territories he controlled even being able to challenge the Emeperor’s power.

It’s quite possible Jabba may make a guest appearance in the upcoming Han Solo film given his history with Han Solo. That role could spur more interest in the character and fuel a larger desire for a Star Wars underground movie featuring Jabba the Hutt. This would allow Disney and Lucasfilm to branch out and take on different genres. Can you imagine Scarface in space?

Do you want to see a Jabba the Hutt solo film? Or do you think he would work better in a supporting role in a Boba Fett film?
