WWE star AJ Styles is getting out of the squared circle to pen the comic about his first appearance with the promotion.

Michael Kingston (Headlocked) will be joining AJ Styles in co-writing the comic. Other stories will be written by Ryan Ferrier (Kong on the Planet of the Apes), Kevin Panetta (Regular Show), Kendall Goode (The Doorman), and Daniel Bayliss (WWE: Then, Now. Forever).

AJ Styles is excited about the opportunity to jump back into comics following in the path of former wrestler CM Punk:

I’ve performed in arenas all over the world, but the most special debut was in front of the WWE Universe at Royal Rumble.

Michael Kingston discussed his relationship with AJ and how the two work well together.

AJ and I are friends and we have similar creative mindsets, so working with him is a breeze. We collaborated on a story for Headlocked that was a lot of fun, so when the opportunity to work together again arose, it was really a no-brainer.

The WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Special will tell a number of untold stories about some of the greatest matches in wrestling history. Some examples include Ric Flair’s first win at the rumble and Shawn Michaels exploits over the years.

Xermánico will be illustrating the main cover for the special (Injustice: Gods Among Us) and there will be a variant cover by Juan Doe (American Monster, Cohn Carter: The End).
