Lucasfilm Releases Official Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer!
Lucasfilm and Disney released the official Solo: A Star Wars Story teaser trailer after dropping a Super Bowl teaser confirming the trailer’s release.
The trailer provides a much greater idea of what the story will be and confirms the previously released synopsis.
Watch:
The trailer starts off by providing Han Solo’s background. In case you didn’t know he’s a lifetime smuggler, he’s also been running scams on the street since he was 10. That seems a little old. I mean Oliver Twist started earlier than that! But there’s more! Han Solo was kicked out of the flight academy for having a mind of his own. I never would have guessed that at all!
He then goes on to say, he’s going to be a pilot! What?!? I never would have guessed that in a thousand years! Han Solo, a pilot? Get out of here!
While the opening voice over is cringe worthy for any Star Wars fan, there are some fun points. The land speeder chase scene which was teased in the Super Bowl spot, looks pretty exciting. I’m a sucker for car chase scenes and who wouldn’t want one in Star Wars! I hope there are a number of chase scenes throughout the movie!
Woody Harrelson’s Tobias Becket appears to be the original owner of the Millennium Falcon or at least the current owner and he’s putting together a crew of smugglers which of course includes Han Solo and Chewbacca. As with any Star Wars movie, there’s a droid crew member.
Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian also appears to be part of Becket’s crew. If you are a fan of the comics, Thandie Newton appears to be playing Sana Solo or Sana Starros although the trailer doesn’t really confirm her character’s identity.
Emilia Clarke’s Qi’Ra appears to play a romantic interest for Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo. There’s a scene where the two definitely have some romantic tension.
The Empire looks to play the part of the antagonist as they mobilize an entire Star Destroyer to pursue Solo and crew. But it’s not just the Empire. There looks to be an enormous space creature that looks to destroy them as well!
What did you think about the trailer? Did you like, love it, or hate it?
