Reddit user realityavengers showed off a brand new Avengers: Infinity War toy called Iron Man vs Thanos Battle Set from Hasbro. The toy not only includes Iron Man’s new armor, but it also reveals Thanos in his full battle armor.

Take a look:

Thanos Full Armor

Just look at that mammoth sword Thanos will wield. It’s double sided! Plus that armor looks almost impenetrable!

It’s quite a bit of a surprise to see Thanos in his full armor given the Russo brothers made it a point that Thanos would not wear his armor in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War film. Director Joe Russo spoke to IGN:

[Thanos] has a more casual approach in this film, and it’s very philosophical for him. It’s part of his character definition. It’s a spiritual journey for him to collect the Stones, and one with which he doesn’t need armor. Once he starts acquiring the Stones, he doesn’t need armor in the same way he did when he was a war lord. It’s a very symbolic costume.

Now granted Russo is very specific that Thanos does not need his armor when he is searching for the Infinity Stones. However, he does mention that he wears it when he acts as a warlord. It’s possible the movie might include shots of Thanos acting as a war lord. In fact, he might don the armor after he has collected all of the Infinity Stones. If not wearing any armor to collect the Infinity Stones is symbolic to him, perhaps putting the armor on after he has collected them would also be symbolic. It would show his dominance and power and that none could match him.

We last saw Thanos wearing his battle armor in Guardians of the Galaxy as he sat on his throne at Sanctuary, where he chided the Kree warlord Ronan the Accuser.

What do you think of Thanos’ new look based off this toy? Do you think this toy design will actually make it into the film? Will Thanos wield this monstrous double-sided sword?
