New rumors indicate Kevin Conroy could be the voice of one of Thanos’ Black Order in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War.

Back in September of last year, Kevin Conroy spoke with Comicbook.com about his role of Batman over the years and some of his current projects. Now, this was back last year before Thor: Ragnarok, or even the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War came out, so much of the nerd news went to covering just surface level news for those movies. Needless to say, the contents of Conroy’s interview flew under the radar for most of us at the time. He teased the possibility of working with Marvel on their projects, testing his range as a voice actor by taking on the role of a villain, and very subtly stating he was already working on such a project.

When asked about the possibility of working for Marvel, Conroy was almost spoiling it for us.

“Of course. I’m an actor. Actors want challenges, they want to be stretched.”

And then Conroy went on a little further to explain the details of a project he was working on.

“I have a new character that I’m introducing. I’m not allowed to mention what it’s on, but it’s on a different show. This new character I’m doing is actually a villain. And it’s a fun, crazy villain. It’s on another show, so I’m not allowed to tell you who it is. But it’s a fun character. I love doing it.”

Batman Forever

Kevin Conroy has famously been the voice of Batman for decades, starting with his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 90’s cartoon Batman: The Animated Series. He has gone and done other projects for WB and DC as part of the Justice League Animated Series, and their Arkham games. He has been the eponymous voice for Batman for a little over two decades. To hear him going to another studio and doing voice work for them almost sounds like betrayal. Not to mention being a voice for one of Marvel’s most anticipated films. Is he playing one of the villains in Avengers: Infinity War? Will we hear his voice as part of the Black Order?

Details about the Black Order have been under wraps. Even in the trailers, we only get glimpses of them or their weapons. A lot of the on-screen work for the alien super group is done through motion capture actors. However, there hasn’t been any hint as to who was doing the voice work for them.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently teased the Black Order would be voiced by some recognizable folks.

“There are interesting people doing the voices. You’ll probably know when you see the movie.”

Adding fuel to the internet fire, the YouTube channel ComicBookCast2 believes Conroy will be voicing the grunt of the group, Cull Obsidian.

The internet has been ablaze since Feige’s announcement about the who might be voicing the Black Order. If Conroy is truly part of that cast, Marvel will definitely be tapping into parts of everyone’s childhood, even if they are coming from the DC/Warner Bros. side.

It’s all rumor at this point, but the evidence seems to be mounting. Who else could be voicing the members of the Black Order? What other voice actors would be instantly recognizable if we heard them on screen? Sound off in the comments below!

Avengers: Infinity War comes out in theaters on May 4th this year.
